The Guldbagge Awards (, ) is an official and annual Swedish film awards ceremony honoring achievements in the Swedish film industry. Winners are awarded a statuette depicting a rose chafer, better known by the name Guldbaggen. The awards, first presented in 1964 at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, are overseen by the Swedish Film Institute. It is described as the Swedish equivalent of the Academy Awards. The awards ceremony was first televised in 1981 on SVT2, and has since then been broadcast, almost every year, on SVT1, SVT2 or TV4. History The first Guldbagge Awards were presented on September 25, 1964, at a private party at Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. Four "guldbaggar" were awarded, honoring directors, actors, actresses and other personalities of the film-making industry of the time for their works during the 1963–64 period. 60th Guldbagge Awards
The 60th Guldbagge Awards ceremony, presented by the Swedish Film Institute, honoring the best Swedish films of 2024, took place on 13 January 2025 at Cirkus in Stockholm. The ceremony broadcast live on SVT1 and be hosted by actress Shima Niavarani. The discontinued special award Guldbagge Newcomer Award was reintroduced. The requirement that nominated actors must have at least one previous performance was removed this year, allowing first-time actors to be nominated. Drama films '' Crossing'' and '' The Swedish Torpedo'' won the most awards with four, with the former was awarded Best Film. ''Raven's End'' () is a 1963 Swedish drama film directed by Bo Widerberg, about an aspiring working-class writer in Malmö. The story bears some similarities to Widerberg's own background, although he claimed it to be entirely fictional. Plot In the mid-1930s, Anders dreams of becoming a writer. His friend Sixten dreams of becoming a football player so he can go to Paris and meet prostitutes in fur. Anders' ambitions are supported by his girlfriend, Elsie, and his parents.
