''Guitar Hero Smash Hits'' (titled ''Guitar Hero Greatest Hits'' in Europe and Australia) is a 2009 rhythm game developed by Beenox and published by Activision. It is the eighth installment in the ''Guitar Hero'' series. The game features 48 songs originally featured in five previous games in the series—''Guitar Hero'', ''Guitar Hero II'', '' Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s'', '' Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock'', and '' Guitar Hero: Aerosmith''—redesigning the songs to be based on master recordings and to include support for full band play first introduced to the series in ''Guitar Hero World Tour'' (2008). Beenox Inc. is a Canadian video game developer established in 2000 in Quebec City. The studio became a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision on May 25, 2005. History Between 2003 and 2007, the developer was essentially a porting house. They completed approximately 30 projects for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh operating systems. ''Guitar Hero World Tour'' is a 2008 rhythm game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision. It is the fourth main installment and the sixth overall installment in the Guitar Hero, ''Guitar Hero'' series. The game was launched in North America in October 2008 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 consoles, and a month later for Europe and Australia. A version of ''World Tour'' for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X was published by Aspyr in July 2009. A mobile version developed by Hands-On Mobile was released for BlackBerry, Android (operating system), Android, J2ME, Java, and the N-Gage (service), N-Gage platform. "Killer Queen" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by lead singer Freddie Mercury and recorded for their third album '' Sheer Heart Attack'' in 1974. "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" is a rock song written by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker and first recorded by the Arrows, a British rock band, in 1975. A 1981 cover version by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, released as the first single from her album of the same name, became Jett's highest-charting hit, reaching number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and becoming the No. 3 song for 1982. The single was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, representing two million units shipped to stores. Jett's version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2016.
