Guido Trento
Guido Trento (21 June 1892 – 31 July 1957) was an Italian stage and film actor. Career Trento appeared in over seventy films during his career, mainly in Italy during the silent era. In 1922 he appeared in Fox's Italian-shot historical epic ''Nero'' (1922). He followed it up with later roles for Fox such as '' Street Angel'' (1928).Holston p.64 He emigrated to the United States, where he settled and died in 1957. His career largely tapered out following the arrival of sound. His final screen appearance was in RKO Radio Pictures's B movie '' Secrets of the French Police'' (1932). Following America's entry into World War II, he was interned in Fort Missoula Internment Camp but released in 1943. ''Pardon Us'' is a 1931 American pre-Code Laurel and Hardy film. It was the team's first starring feature-length comedy film, produced by Hal Roach, directed by James Parrott, and originally distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1931. Plot During Prohibition, Stan and Ollie are outside a malt-and-hops store offering ingredients for brewing. Ollie announces his intention to brew 15 gallons of beer, but Stan protests that they can't drink 15 gallons. Ollie says, "What we can't drink, we can sell." They walk into the shop side by side, and then walk into prison side by side (Stan having sold their home brew to a policeman). Stan's loose tooth makes an involuntary razzberry sound, which angers the prison officials. ''It Is the Law'' is a 1924 American silent film, silent mystery film directed by J. Gordon Edwards (director), J. Gordon Edwards and starring Arthur Hohl, Herbert Heyes, and Mona Palma. It is a film adaptation of the 1922 Broadway theatre, Broadway play of the same name by Elmer Rice, itself based on a novel by Hayden Talbot. The film depicts the story of Ruth Allen (Palma), who marries Justin Victor (Heyes) over competing suitor Albert Woodruff (Hohl). Seeking revenge for this slight, Woodruff fakes his own death by killing a drifter who resembles him, and frames Victor for the murder. Woodruff attempts to renew his courtship of Allen by using an assumed identity, but she sees through his disguise. Once Victor is freed from prison, he kills Woodruff and goes free because a conviction would constitute double jeopardy. The film depicts the biblical story of David (Bernardi), a shepherd prophesied to replace Saul (Trento) as king. David is invited into Saul's court, but eventually betrayed. He assembles an army that defeats the Philistines, becomes king after Saul's death in battle, and marries Saul's daughter Michal (Mersereau). Advertising for the film tried to take advantage of the popular interest in Egypt following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, despite only an introductory scene in the film taking place in Egypt.
