Guido Bellido
Guido Bellido Ugarte (born 7 August 1979) is a Peruvian politician of Quechua heritage, an electrical engineer and economist. He served as prime minister of Peru from 29 July to 6 October 2021. He is also serving as a member of the Congress, representing Cuzco. Early life Bellido Ugarte was born to a Quechua family in Livitaca on 7 August 1979. He has a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering and a master's degree in economics with a major in public management and regional development. He carried out his higher studies at the National University of Saint Anthony the Abbot in Cuzco. Political career Until 2018, he was a member of the Arriba Peru Adelante party, where he served as a legal representative, and later joined the Free Peru party where he served as a regional secretary general in Cuzco. Nationalization (nationalisation in British English) is the process of transforming privately-owned assets into public assets by bringing them under the public ownership of a national government or state. Las Bambas Copper Mine
Las Bambas copper mine is an open-pit copper mine in the Cotabambas province of Peru. With over a billion tons of copper ore, the deposit is one of the largest in the world and produces 2% of global copper. Las Bambas also produces molybdenum concentrates. Development began on the mine in August 2015 and production began in early 2016. The mine has resulted in multiple environmental conflicts between 2015 and 2022. About 15,000 people protested the mine during the early phases of construction, resulting in clashes with police who shot and killed four local people. There were continued protests in 2021-2022, when protestors blockaded the mine and complained that they received few benefits from the mine. Chumbivilcas Province
Chumbivilcas is a province in the Andes in South Peru. The Inca called it "Chumpiwillka". The seat of the province is Santo Tomás. Officially Chumbivilcas was founded on June 21, 1825. Geography Some of the most important rivers of the area are Velille River, Qañawimayu and Sinqa Wayq'u which are springs of the Apurímac River. The Wansu mountain range traverses the province.
