Alex Guenette (born April 25, 1996) is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. The Quebec race car driver currently competes in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, driving the No. 3 for Team 3 Red/Ed Hakonson Racing. He has also competed in other series, most notably the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series. Racing career Early years Guenette began his racing career at the age of seven, his father and grandfather being professional race car drivers. Before stock cars, Guenette raced go-karts, motocross and four-wheelers. He tested stock cars in 2011 at age fifteen, was rookie of the year in the 2012 Quebec Super Truck Series and finished second in the 2013 World Series of Asphalt. Steven P. Guenette (born November 13, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played 35 games in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Calgary Flames from 1987 to 1990. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1986 to 1992, was spent in the minor leagues. Playing career Guenette signed with the Penguins in 1985 after two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Platers. He remained in the OHL for one more season in 1985–86, where he led the Platers to the J. Ross Robertson Cup title, and then the 1986 Memorial Cup championship. Guenette won the Leo Lalonde Memorial Trophy as the OHL's top over-ager, as well as the Hap Emms Memorial Trophy as the top goaltender in the Memorial Cup, in addition to being named to the Memorial Cup All-Star team. ''The Deserter'' ( ) is a 2008 Quebec feature film directed by Simon Lavoie. The film stars Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Raymond Cloutier, Danielle Proulx, Viviane Audet, Benoît Gouin and Gilles Renaud. It tells the story of Georges Guénette, a deserter from the Canadian Army during World War II, who was shot and killed by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Background Georges Guénette was a deserter from the Canadian Army and, like many French Canadians during World War II, an opponent of the war and conscription. In May 1944, a few months after Guénette deserted from the army, four Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers found Guenette in his father's farmhouse, in St-Lambert-de-Lévis (near Quebec City).
