Gubbi Veeranna
Gubbi Hampanna Veeranna (1891 – 1972) was an Indian theatre director. He was one of the pioneers and most prolific contributors to Kannada theatre. He established the drama company, ''Gubbi Sree Channabasaveshwara Nataka Company'', which played a crucial role in promoting the Kannada theatre field. He has been conferred the title ''Nataka Ratna'' meaning ''"A Precious Jewel" in the theatre world''. Gubbi Veeranna laid the foundation stone for the Kannada film industry. He established a studio, produced silent films in early days of cinema and produced good Kannada short films, He built theaters and introduced many actors including Dr Rajkumar, G.V Iyer, B.V Karanth, Girish Karnad and others to the Kannada film industry. Gubbi
Gubbi is a town in Tumakuru District, Karnataka, India. It is 20 km from Tumakuru and 90 km from Bengaluru along NH-206 (BH Road). Gubbi ULB (Urban Local Bodies) contains 17 wards and an equal number of councilors. The population of the Gubbi Town was 18,446 in 2011. The town has an area of 6.67 sq. km. Gubbi was earlier known by the name Amaragonda. Gubbi is famous for the Gosala Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Temple of the Veerashaiva sect and Sri Chidambarashrama. ''Sadarame'' () is a 1935 Indian Kannada language mythological drama film directed by Raja Chandrashekar and produced by Gubbi Veeranna, both making their film debuts. This film was the third sound film produced in Kannada cinema. The same film had a Tamil version released as ''Naveena Sadarame'' produced by K. Subramanyam and starred S. D. Subbulakshmi in the title role. Based on a Marathi play "Mitra" by Shirish Athwale, Veeranna had adapted it in his theater play and finally brought it onto the big screen in 1935. Kalyan Kumar
Kalyan Kumar (7 June 1928 – 1 August 1999) was an Indian actor, as well as an occasional film director and producer, who worked primarily in Kannada cinema, Kannada and Tamil cinema. Making his acting debut in the mythological drama ''Natashekara'' (1954), Kalyan Kumar went on to star in over 200 films in a span of over five decades. He was one of the most sought-after actors in the 1950s through 1970s for lead roles. Kalyan Kumar has the credit of being the first ever Kannada actor to star in a colour film in ''Amarashilpi Jakanachari'' (1963). Alongside Kumar, the 1960s and 1970s in Kannada cinema was dominated by two other actors, Dr. Rajkumar, Rajkumar and Udaya Kumar (actor), Udayakumar.
