''Guard No. 47'' ( cz, Hlídač č. 47) is a 2008 Czech film by director Filip Renč. It is based on the 1926 Josef Kopta novel ''Guard No. 47'', and stars Karel Roden and Lucia Siposová. The film won three Czech Lion awards and four ''Golden Reel'' awards at the Tiburon International Film Festival in 2009. Filip Renč
Filip Renč (born 17 August 1965) is a Czech film director, screenwriter, and actor. Biograph Filip Renč was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Since his childhood, he already proved his enthusiasm for movies and drama. As a young boy he appeared in several movies, including ''Julek'' (1980) and ''Leve kridlo'' (1983). During his studies at FAMU (Film and TV School of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) he created documentaries (Zapadákov, Srdíčko) for which he was awarded at the International film schools festival in 1987 and 1988. His debut movie ''Requiem for a Maiden'' was also a great success at the Czechoslovakian film festival FORUM in Bratislava. In the following years he directed a number of successful movies, including ''From Subway with Love'' (2005) and his latest piece ''At Your Own Risk'' (2008) which has just recently been released. Jaroslav Kučera
Jaroslav Kučera (6 August 1929 – 11 January 1991) was a Czech cinematographer. He worked on many Czech New Wave movies. Life He studied at FAMU in 1948–1952. He frequently worked with directors Vojtěch Jasný, Karel Kachyňa and his wife Věra Chytilová. He received Technical Grand Prize at Cannes film festival for ''The Cassandra Cat''. Josef Kopta
Josef Kopta (16 June 1894 in Libochovice, Bohemia – 3 April 1962 in Prague) was a Czech writer and journalist. Before World War I Kopta worked as a bank clerk. In 1914 he was sent to the Eastern front, in 1915 taken prisoner and later joined Czechoslovak Legions in Russia. After the war he worked as a journalist in newspapers ''Národní osvobození'' and '' Lidové noviny''. In 1919 Kopta started to write poetry, without having much of success. During the 1920s and 1930s he, together with František Langer and Rudolf Medek represented literary form concentrated on the Legions (''legionářská literatura''). Kopta's short novels and stories were the most successful of his writing. Kopta concentrates on common people dragged into the war and on psychology of characters during the warfare and post-war life. Karel Roden
Karel Roden (born 18 May 1962) is a Czech actor, popularly known for his roles in '' Hellboy'' and '' The Bourne Supremacy'', and his voice work in '' Grand Theft Auto IV''. Life and career Roden followed his father and grandfather into acting. Roden first graduated from the Comprehensive Art Secondary School for Ceramics before being admitted to the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Roden's feature film career began almost simultaneous with his theatre work in 1984 as Honza, a medical student in the 2nd part of a trilogy entitled "How the poets are losing their illusions" (Jak básníci přicházejí o iluze), a lighthearted, comic look at life through the lives of young university students. Lucia Siposová (born 21 May 1980) is a Slovak stage, television and film actress.
