Guangzhou True Light Middle School
Guangzhou True Light Middle School, or True Light High School, is a school located at Shanding, Baihedong Street, Liwan District (formerly known as in Fangcun District), Guangzhou, founded in 1872 by Harriet Newell Noyes, who was an American Presbyterian and missionary for over 140 years. It is the mother school of True Light Middle School of Hong Kong and Kowloon True Light Middle School. It is near the YMCA Fangcun Branch and beside Guangzhou Puiying Middle School, which is founded in 1879 by Henry Varnum Noyes, who was the elder brother of Harriet Newell Noyes and another missionary and American Presbyterian. Liwan District
Liwan District is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China. The district is split into two parts by the Pearl River: Xiguan in the northeast and Fangcun in the southwest. History Liwan District was named after "Lizhiwan", which is derived from poem of "a bay of green water and red lychees along both banks". It covers an area of and has a permanent population of about 540,000 and a permanent nonnative population of over 200,000. Liwan District is positioned in the flourishing west part of Guangzhou, on the northeast bank of the Pearl River. Zhang Guangning (; born 1953 in Jiangsu) was the 14th Mayor of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China, and later Party Secretary of Guangzhou. Biography He holds a Masters in the Philosophy of Law and an MBA and graduated from the elite party school of the CPC central committee. Haizhu District is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China.
