The Guadeloupe Rugby Committee ( French: ''Comité de Rugby de Guadeloupe'', —or officially: ''Comité Territorial de Rugby de Guadeloupe'') is a committee under the umbrella of the French Rugby Federation which is the governing body for rugby union within Guadeloupe. It is affiliated with the NACRA, which is the regional governing body for North America and the Caribbean, but it is not affiliated with the International Rugby Board (IRB) in its own right. Rugby Americas North, abbreviated as RAN, is the governing body for rugby union in the North American continental region. Rugby Americas North operates under the authority of World Rugby, and is one of six regional unions represented within it. Prior to 2016, the organisation was known as NACRA – the North America Caribbean Rugby Association. The preceding body before 2010 was NAWIRA – the North America and West Indies Rugby Association. The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Cup, named after William Webb Ellis, who according to a popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game.
