Guacho (film)
''The Bastard '' ( es, Guacho) is a 1954 Argentine film directed by Lucas Demare and starring Tita Merello. The film won two awards at the eleventh Silver Condor Awards: Best Director and Best Actress, for Merello. Synopsis A woman married to a sailor must raise her own son and also the one her husband had with another woman. The two children are quite different from each other: the woman's son is sickly, while the other one is strong. She is thus inclined to claim motherhood of the strong boy and switches their identities. However, her biological son dies in a shipwreck, and the woman's guilt leads her to commit suicide. Lucas Demare
Lucas Demare (July 14, 1910 – September 6, 1981) was an Argentine film director, screenwriter, and film producer prominent in the Cinema of Argentina in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Biography At the 1943 Argentine Film Critics Association Awards, Demare won Silver Condor awards for Best Director, Best Film and numerous other awards for '' The Gaucho War'' (1942), a film which is considered by critics in Argentina to be one of the best films in its history. He won further awards including Best Film and Director for '' Su mejor alumno'' (1944) at the 1945 Argentine Film Critics Association Awards. He wrote and directed other films such as ''El cura gaucho'' (1941), '' La calle grita'' (1948), '' Mi noche triste'' (1951), '' Zafra'' (1958) and '' La Boda'' (1964). Alejandro Rey (February 8, 1930 – May 21, 1987) was an Argentine-American actor and television director. María de la Concepción Jesusa Basilisa Rodríguez-Espina y García-Tagle, short form Concha Espina (15 April 1869 or 1877 or 1 April 1879 or 15 April 1879 in Santander – 19 May 1955 in Madrid), was a Spanish writer. She was nominated for a Nobel prize in literature twenty five times in twenty eight years. Life María de la Concepción Jesusa Basilisa Rodríguez-Espina y García-Tagle was born in Santander, the seventh of 10 children of Víctor Rodríguez-Espina y Olivares and Ascensión García-Tagle y de la Vega. On 12 January 1893 she married Ramón de la Serna y Cueto, and they moved to Valparaíso, Chile during some years. The marriage had 5 children: Ramón, Víctor, José, Josefina (wife of Regino Sainz de la Maza) and Luis. The couple separated in 1909, and legally in 1934.
