Grytøya
or is an island in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island lies just north of the large island of Hinnøya and south of the island of Bjarkøya. It is surrounded by the Vågsfjorden in the east and the Andfjorden in the west. The highest peak on the island is the tall mountain Nona. The population of Grytøya (2017) is 433. The southeastern part of the island is the most agriculturally productive. The northern part of the island was formerly part of the old municipality of Bjarkøy, which merged with Harstad Municipality on 1 January 2013. Transportation There is a ferry connection from Bjørnå (on Grytøya) to Vika (on the neighboring island of Hinnøya), just north of the town of Harstad. Bjarkøy Fixed Link
The Bjarkøy Fixed Link ( no, Bjarkøyforbindelsen) is a fixed link which connects the three islands of Bjarkøya, Sandsøya, and Grytøya in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The fixed link was completed in late 2018. A subsea road tunnel ( no, Kvernsundtunnelen) connects the islands of Grytøya and Bjarkøya, and a bridge connects the islands of Grytøya and Sandsøya. The tunnel to Bjarkøya is long. The bridge to Grytøya is long plus a long causeway. The project also included of new road on Grytøya to connect the existing roads to the new undersea tunnel. The Bjarkøy Tunnel is designated as part of Norwegian County Road 867, while the Sandsøya Bridge is part of Norwegian County Road 124. Sandsøya, Troms
Sandsøya or Sandsøy is an island in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island lies east of the island of Grytøya and southeast of the island of Bjarkøya. The highest point on the island is the mountain Veten. In 2017, Sandsøya had 91 inhabitants. The island settlement is a very old trading post and church village, a part of the former municipality of Bjarkøy which existed until 2013. Sandsøy Church is located on the western side of the island in the village of Sandsøy. The other village on the island is Slakstad on the eastern part of the island. There was a ferry link that formerly went between Altevik on Sandsøya, Fenes on Grytøya, and Austnes on Bjarkøya. Bjarkøy
Bjarkøy is a former municipality in Troms county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until it was merged with Harstad Municipality on 1 January 2013. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Nergården on the island of Bjarkøya. The island municipality was spread across several islands: Bjarkøya, Sandsøya, Grytøya (northern half), Krøttøya, and many smaller ones. Originally, the municipality also included the southwestern part of the large island of Senja. One of the reasons why Bjarkøy merged with Harstad in 2013 was due to the promised funding of the Bjarkøy Fixed Link project. It would link the main islands of Bjarkøy together with a bridge and undersea road tunnel enabling residents to drive further which would drastically shorten the ferry ride to Harstad. Bjarkøya is an island in Harstad Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island is located north of the island of Grytøya and northwest of the island of Sandsøya. The Andfjorden lies to the northwest and the Vågsfjorden lies to the southeast. The main church for the island is Bjarkøy Church in the village of Nergården. The island's population (2017) is 267. Andfjorden
Andfjorden is a fjord on the border of Nordland and Troms og Finnmark counties in Norway. It primarily flows between the large islands of Andøya and Senja. Grytøya and the smaller islands Bjarkøya and Krøttøya are located in the fjord. The main crossing is via the Andenes–Gryllefjord Ferry between Andøy and Senja municipalities. Other municipalities through which the fjord flows are Harstad, and Kvæfjord. The fjord is about long, has a maximum width of , and has a maximum depth of which makes it a rich feeding ground for Sperm whales and Killer whales. Whale safaris are run from Andenes and from Krøttøya. Several other fjords branch off the Andfjorden including the Kvæfjorden, Godfjorden, and the Vågsfjorden. Vågsfjorden is a fjord in the southern part of Troms og Finnmark county in Norway. The fjord is located between Norway's two largest islands, Hinnøya to the south and Senja to the north. The fjord connects to the Andfjorden and the Tranøyfjorden to the north, and to the Astafjorden and Tjeldsundet to the south.
