Großer Finsterberg
The Großer Finsterberg is a mountain, , in the Thuringian Forest not far from the villages of Stützerbach and Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig. It is the third highest peak in the German state of Thuringia. Description The volcanic origin of the Großer Finsterberg may be seen clearly from the conical shape of its summit, which tilts markedly towards the west. Apart from the summit plateau, the mountain is completely covered by a nearly natural cotton and reed grass spruce woodland and in most places there is no shrub layer. On the plateau a special mountain pasture vegetation has formed with baldmoney, veronica and St. John's wort. Location Subpeaks and boundaries One kilometre away to the north-northeast is its smaller brother, the Kleiner Finsterberg or ''Finsterberger Köpfchen'' (). Kalter Staudenkopf
Alan Robert Kalter (March 21, 1943 – October 4, 2021) was an American television announcer from New York City. He is best known as the announcer for the ''Late Show with David Letterman'', a role he held from September 4, 1995, until Letterman's retirement on May 20, 2015. He also hosted ''Alan Kalter's Celebrity Interview'' that ran concurrently with ''The Late Show''. Career Kalter, nicknamed "Big Red" and "TV's Uncle Jerry" by Letterman, began his stint as the "voice" of the ''Late Show with David Letterman'' on September 4, 1995, replacing the retiring Bill Wendell. Stratification in the field of ecology refers to the vertical layering of a habitat; the arrangement of vegetation in layers. It classifies the layers (sing. ''stratum'', pl. Anthracite, also known as hard coal, and black coal, is a hard, compact variety of coal that has a submetallic luster. Großer Beerberg
The Großer Beerberg is a mountain, , whose summit is the highest point in the Thuringian Forest and the state of Thuringia. The () is a ridge walk as well as an historical boundary path in the Thuringian Forest, Thuringian Highland and Franconian Forest in Central Germany. The long-distance trail runs for about from and the valley in the northwest to and the river in the southeast. The is also the watershed between the river systems of the , Elbe and Rhine. Ilm (Saale)
The Ilm is a long river in Thuringia, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Saale, into which it flows in Großheringen near Bad Kösen. Towns along the Ilm are Ilmenau, Stadtilm, Kranichfeld, Bad Berka, Weimar, Apolda and Bad Sulza. In the valley of Ilm river runs the federal motorway 87 from Ilmenau to Leipzig and two railways: the Thuringian Railway between Großheringen and Weimar and the Weimar–Kranichfeld railway.
