Grom UCAV
Grom (Russian: Гром, lit. 'Thunder') is a Russian unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) being developed by the Kronshtadt Group. It was first unveiled at ARMY-2020 forum. Development A full size mockup of the Grom UCAV was unveiled at Army-2020 by Kronshtadt. "Grom" is being designed to operate in conjunction with fighters such as Su-35 and Su-57; according to main designer of Kronstadt, the main task of this UCAV is to save the lives of pilots and piloted aircraft themselves. "Grom" will be able to carry Kh-38 air-to-surface guided missiles. The weapons will be placed on four hardpoints - two under the wings and two inside the fuselage. The Sukhoi Su-35 (-35; NATO reporting name: Flanker-E/M, occasionally nicknamed "Super Flanker") is the designation for two improved derivatives of the Sukhoi Su-27, Su-27 air-defence fighter. The KAB-250 is a family of aerial bombs developed in the 2000s. It comes in two forms, the KAB-250LG-E laser-guided bomb and KAB-250S-E satellite-guided bomb. It is being introduced into service with the Russian Air Force since 2020. KAB stands for "Корректируемая Авиационная Бомба" which means "Managed (corrected) aircraft bomb" and refers to high-precision weapons. The KAB-250 is long and weighs . The Kh-38/Kh-38M () is a family of standoff air-to-surface missiles meant to succeed the Kh-25 and Kh-29 missile families. The Kh-38 also serves as the basis for the Kh-36 unpowered and powered glide-bombs. Design and development The basic configuration of the Kh-38M was revealed at the 2007 Moscow Air Show (MAKS). The first prototypes of the missile had initially folding wings and tail fins for internal carriage, and would have a variety of seeker heads for different variants. The Kronshtadt Group (also romanized as Kronstadt), is a Russian manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles. History Kronstadt began the development of the Kronshtadt Orion in 2011 as part of the Russian MoD-funded Inokhodets programme. The Orion is similar in design and role to the American Predator/Gray Eagle and the Chinese Wing Loong. The Orion is targeted at both the domestic and export market. A scale model of the Kronshtadt Sirius was presented for the first time in 2019 at the MAKS-2019 air show. By August 2023 Sirius made its first flight.
