Groen (; ), founded as Agalev, is a green Flemish political party in Belgium. The main pillars of the party are social justice, human rights, and ecologism. Its French-speaking equivalent is Ecolo; the two parties maintain close relations with each other. History Agalev In 1979, the green party was founded by name of "Agalev", an acronym of "Anders Gaan Leven" ("''Towards Different Living''"). During the eighties, the party was known for being against nuclear weapons, and for being pro-Europe. In 1992 Agalev was asked to support a constitutional change called the Sint-Michiels agreement, which would make Belgium a federation. This change required a two-third majority, so the majority needed to convince some parties of the opposition to proceed. Guillaume Groen Van Prinsterer
Guillaume Groen van Prinsterer (21 August 1801, Voorburg – 19 May 1876), was a Dutch politician and historian. Overview Groen's father, Petrus Jacobus Groen van Prinsterer, was a physician, and at adult age operated in aristocratic circles. He was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church, the state church of the Netherlands and of its Royal Family, although he deemed it to be in a poor condition. He was influenced by a then leading evangelical renewal movement known in the Netherlands as the '' Réveil,'' the European Continental counterpart to the Second Great Awakening. He studied at Leiden University, and graduated in 1823 both as doctor of literature and LLD. From 1829 to 1833 he was a secretary to William II of the Netherlands. Geoffrey de Groen (born December 1938) is an Australian artist known for his abstract works in oil and acrylics. De Groen's paintings are included in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Queensland Art Gallery. Dora van der Groen (10 March 1927 – 8 November 2015) was a Belgian actress and theatre director. She appeared in more than 120 films and television shows between 1945 and 2003. She played Vrouw Coene in '' Wij, Heren van Zichem'' and starred in the 1975 film '' Dokter Pulder zaait papavers'', which was entered into the 26th Berlin International Film Festival. FF Groen
Frédéric François Groen, heer van Waarder (1814–1882) was a Dutch shipyard operator in Amsterdam. The shipyard was called FF Groen Scheepsbouwwerft de boot and was located at 111 Gr Wittenburgerstraat. Groen's son, Herman Frederik (1846-1904), built at least two full-rigged sailing ships, the Vondel (1894) and Nicolaas Witsen (1897), but neither was sold. So he operated the ships himself. In 1897 he retired, HF Groen was not married and had no children and died on 1-10-1904. Tiemen Groen
Tiemen Groen (6 July 1946 – 26 October 2021) was a Dutch cyclist who won four consecutive world titles in the 4 km individual pursuit in 1964–1967; His sporting career began with DTS Zaandam. He finished fourth in this event at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal in the team time trial at the 1966 UCI Road World Championships.
