Groceries Supply Code Of Practice
The Groceries (Supply Chain Practices) Market Investigation Order 2009 is a statutory instrument of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Code of practice The order sets out a Groceries Supply Code of Practice, known informally as the Groceries Code, to regulate the relationship between food suppliers and a number of designated large retailers, a list of which is maintained by the government. Groceries Code Adjudicator
The Groceries Code Adjudicator (or ''Supermarket Ombudsman'') is an independent statutory office established to enforce the Groceries Supply Code of Practice and to regulate the relationship between supermarkets and their direct suppliers within the United Kingdom. The post was created by the Groceries Code Adjudicator Act 2013 and is an independent office within the Department for Business and Trade. The UK Competition Commission ( the Competition and Markets Authority or CMA) undertook an investigation of grocery retail in 2009, and recommended that government establish an ombudsman for the sector.
