''Grip'' is the third studio album by American singer and songwriter Serpentwithfeet, released on February 16, 2024, through Secretly Canadian. It was primarily produced by I Like That, with additional production from Mike Irish, and features collaborations with Ty Dolla Sign, Mick Jenkins, Orion Sun, and Yanga YaYa. The album received positive reviews from critics. Background On October 23, 2023, Serpentwithfeet announced his third studio album, titled ''Grip''. Jonathan Josiah Wise (born July 9, 1988), known professionally as serpentwithfeet, is an R&B singer based in Brooklyn, New York City. Wise signed with the English record label Tri Angle (record label), Tri Angle to release his debut extended play (EP), ''Blisters'' (2016). He entered a joint venture with Secretly Canadian to release his debut studio album, ''Soil (album), soil'' (2018), which was met with critical acclaim. Background and release A year after the release of Serpentwithfeet's debut studio album ''Soil (album), Soil'' (2018), he released a single titled "Receipts" with singer and rapper Ty Dolla Sign. They further worked on the latter's album ''Featuring Ty Dolla Sign'' (2020), with the single "Ego Death (song), Ego Death" along with rapper Kanye West, singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, and record producer Skrillex.
