Charles Griffiths (politician)
Charles Edward Griffiths (26 June 1903 – 17 May 1982) was an Australian politician. Born in Jesmond, New South Wales, he attended public schools and became a railwayman with New South Wales Railways, rising to become an official in the Australian Railways Union. He was appointed to the Australian Labor Party's New South Wales Executive before his election to the Australian House of Representatives in 1949 as the member for the new seat of Shortland. Cottingley Fairies
The Cottingley Fairies are the subject of a hoax which purports to provide evidence of the existence of fairies. They appear in a series of five photographs taken by Elsie Wright (1901–1988) and Frances Griffiths (1907–1986), two young cousins who lived in Cottingley, Bradford, Cottingley, near Bradford in England. In 1917, when the first two photographs were taken, Elsie was 16 years old and Frances was 9. The pictures came to the attention of writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who used them to illustrate an article on fairies he had been commissioned to write for the Christmas 1920 edition of ''The Strand Magazine''. Doyle was enthusiastic about the photographs, and interpreted them as clear and visible evidence of supernatural phenomena. Eliezer Griffiths
Eliezer Griffiths (3 February 1827 – 21 April 1920) was a Welsh Congregationalist minister with a significant career in Australia and America, where he died. History Griffiths was born in Lampeter, Ceredigion, Wales, a son of Rev. G. Griffiths, minister of Mynydd Seion, Newport, Wales and his wife Maria Griffiths (c. 1794 – 18 December 1866). He was educated at New College and served the church at Tenby, Wales for twelve years, then moved to Australia. He served from 1861 to 1865 at Port Denison, Queensland, where he served in several different churches, including the Church of England. He may have served briefly at Bowen, Queensland, but in 1866 moved to South Australia to take over the Clayton Congregational Church in Kensington, South Australia, recently vacated by William Harcus. Dean Horace Griffiths (born 27 January 1980) is a male hurdler from Jamaica, who represented his native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He set his personal best (48.55) while winning the men's 400m hurdles at the NCAA Championship on 13 June 2003 in Sacramento, California and help Auburn University to a 2nd-place team finish. Daniel Phillip Griffiths (born 1 February 1979) in Carmarthen, Wales is a rugby union player for Bridgend Ravens. He previously played for Whitland RFC and Aviron Bayonnais. He then played over 150 games for Newport RFC and became the highest all time points scorer for the club in February 2008 at Maesteg. In doing so, he beat Paul Turner's record which had stood since 1992. He has also appeared twice for the Newport Gwent Dragons, coming on as a replacement against Munster and the Ospreys in 2005.
