Grief (band)
Grief was an American sludge metal band based in Boston, Massachusetts. Biography Grief was founded in 1991 by Disrupt guitarist Terry Savastano and Unleashed Anger drummer Pete Donovan. Randy Odierno (who later switched to bass and later again left to join Bane of Existence) and Jeff Hayward joined shortly thereafter. They disbanded in 2001 mainly due to drummer problems - something that was an ongoing problem for the band from the start. They also cited what they called a "hostile environment for doom metal bands". They reunited briefly in July 2005 to play a cluster of reunion shows. The band had several 7"s including one with Dystopia and Corrupted each. A compilation album called ''Turbulent Times'' appeared in 2002 through Southern Lord. Soilent Green is an American grindcore/sludge metal band formed in 1988 in Chalmette/ Metairie on the suburbs of New Orleans, Louisiana. History Soilent Green was founded in 1988, but their debut album was not released until 1995, when '' Pussysoul'' came out via Dwell Records. The following four albums were released by Relapse Records, until they signed with Metal Blade Records for their 2008 album, ''Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction''. On April 26, 2004, bassist Scott Williams was killed in a murder–suicide by his partner. In September 2005, former singer Glenn Rambo was killed in Hurricane Katrina. 16, stylized as -(16)-, is an American sludge metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band is currently signed to Relapse Records. In February 2025, the band released their tenth full-length album, ''Guides for the Misguided''. History Formation and ''Curves That Kick'' (1992–1994) 16 was formed in Santa Ana, California by Bobby Ferry (guitar), Cris Jerue (vocals), Ben Clark (bass) and Jason Corley (drums) in 1992. According to Ferry, he and Jerue bonded as part of the Southern California skate scene. Ferry has stated band was originally called 15, but changed their name when they were made aware of a previously existing group called Fifteen, who had been signed to Lookout Records. Ferry also named some of the band's early influences, including 7 Seconds, Bad Brains, and Metallica, as well as the "wave of mphetamine Reptilebands, Helmet, Jesus Lizard, Unsane and Tar."
