GridSpice
GridSpice is an open source cloud-based simulation package for the smart grid and incorporates code from MATPOWER and GridLAB-D. GridSpice models the interactions between all parts of the electrical grid including generation, transmission, distribution, storage and loads. GridLAB-D is an open-source (BSD license) simulation and analysis tool that models emerging smart grid energy technologies. It couples power flow calculations with distribution automation models, building energy use and appliance demand models, and market models. It is used primarily to estimate the benefits and impacts of smart grid technology. BSD License
BSD licenses are a family of permissive free software licenses, imposing minimal restrictions on the use and distribution of covered software.
