GriGris
''GriGris'' is a 2013 French-Chadian drama film directed by Mahamat Saleh Haroun, starring Soulémane Démé, Mariam Monory, Cyril Guei and Marius Yelolo. It is about a 25-year-old man with a paralysed leg who dreams of becoming a dancer, and starts to work for a gang of petrol smugglers. The film was produced through the French Pili Films with co-production support from the Chadian Goï Goï Productions. It also received support from Canal+, Ciné+, TV5Monde, Canal Horizons and the CNC. Filming started 29 October 2012. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and won the Vulcan Award. The film was selected as the Chadian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film also screened at the 36th Denver Film Festival. Mahamat Saleh Haroun
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (; ) was born in 1961 in Abéché, Chad. He is a film director from Chad. He left Chad during the civil wars of the 1980s. Haroun is the first Chadian full-length film director. He both writes and directs his films. Though he has lived in France since 1982, most of his films have been set in and made in Chad. Biography Mahamat-Saleh Haroun studied film at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma in Paris. He later went to study journalism at Bordeaux I.U.T (Technical Institute), and then worked for several years as a journalist in France. He directed his first short film ''Tan Koul'' in 1991, but he became famous after his second film Maral Tanié' (25 minutes), directed in 1994. This film tells the story of seventeen-year-old Halimé, whose family forces her to marry a man in his fifties. Halimé refuses to consummate the marriage. This is a list of submissions to the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature length, feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English language, English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. For the 86th Academy Awards, which were held on 2 March 2014, the submitted films must be first released theatrically in their respective countries for seven consecutive days between 1 October 2012 and 30 September 2013. The 66th Cannes Film Festival took place from 15 to 26 May 2013. American filmmaker Steven Spielberg was the Jury President for the main competition. French actress Audrey Tautou hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. The French film ''Blue Is the Warmest Colour'' won the Palme d'Or. The CST Award for Best Artist-Technician () is an independent film award created in 2003. It rewards the work of a technician for his or her collaboration in the creation of a film from the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival. It is awarded by a special jury, appointed by the ''Superior Technical Commission of Image and Sound'' ( or CST). History In 1951, the CST created the ''Technical Grand Prize'' () of the CST, awarded during the Cannes Film Festival. That prize existed until 2000.
