Gregor Edelmann
Gregor Edelmann (born 1954) is a German journalist, screenwriter and dramaturge based in Berlin. Life Edelmann was born in Suhl, an industrial town near Erfurt in the southern part of what was then the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). He studied Germanistics and, later, Dramaturgy. His teachers included Heiner Müller. Between 1981 and 1989, he was employed as a dramaturge for East German drama by Henschel-Theaterverlag (theatrical publishers) in Berlin. Between 1988 and 2006, he lived with the actress Vera Oelschlegel. In 1990, together with the theatrical polymath , they founded the (Theatre of the East) which for nearly two decades recalled and celebrated the theatrical traditions of the separate Germany that had come to an end in 1990. Dramaturge
A dramaturge or dramaturg is a literary adviser or editor in a theatre, opera, or film company who researches, selects, adapts, edits, and interprets scripts, libretti, texts, and printed programmes (or helps others with these tasks), consults authors, and does public relations work. Its modern-day function was originated by the innovations of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, an 18th-century German playwright, philosopher, and theatre theorist. Jean Racine
Jean-Baptiste Racine ( , ) (; 22 December 163921 April 1699) was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France, along with Molière and Corneille as well as an important literary figure in the Western tradition and world literature. Racine was primarily a tragedian, producing such "examples of neoclassical perfection" as ''Phèdre'', '' Andromaque'', and '' Athalie''. Flemming (TV Series)
''Flemming '' is a German television series. Plot The main character is police psychologist Vince Flemming, who uses his skills to help solve difficult criminal cases in Berlin. He supports his ex-wife Ann Gittel, who works for the LKA 1. The place of action is the German capital Berlin. Gittel is also supported by KHK Blum. In season 1, LKA 1 was headed by Dr. Karl Leo, the director of criminal investigations, and as of season 2, by Walli Hoven, the director of criminal investigations. With Walli Hoven, the secretary Mette Jumarowski, who initially does not get along with Flemming, also joins the team. ''Der letzte Zeuge'' (''The Last Witness'') is a German crime television series set in Berlin. Created by Gregor Edelmann, it aired on ZDF from 1998 to 2007 and was mostly directed by Bernhard Stephan. It stars Ulrich Mühe as medical examiner Dr Robert Kolmaar, along with Gesine Cukrowski as his colleague Dr Judith Sommer and Jörg Gudzuhn as commissioner Johannes "Joe" Hoffer. Berliner Ensemble
The Berliner Ensemble () is a German theatre company established by actress Helene Weigel and her husband, playwright Bertolt Brecht, in January 1949 in East Berlin. In the time after Brecht's exile, the company first worked at Wolfgang Langhoff's Deutsches Theater and in 1954 moved to the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm, built in 1892, that was open for the 1928 premiere of ''The Threepenny Opera'' (''Die Dreigroschenoper''). Peter Zadek
Peter Zadek (; 19 May 1926 – 30 July 2009) was a German director of theatre, opera and film, a translator and a screenwriter. He is regarded as one of the greatest directors in German-speaking theater. Biography Peter Zadek was born on 19 May 1926 to a Jewish family in Berlin. In 1934, he emigrated with his family to London where he later studied at Old Vic theatre, after a year at Oxford University. He began in weekly rep in Swansea and Pontypridd.
