Greg Marshall is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', portrayed by Ross Newton. He made his first on-screen appearance on 20 September 1991. Newton departed the show in 1993, before making a brief return in 2000. Casting Newton told Glenn Wheeler of '' The Morning Show'' that joining the cast of ''Home and Away'' "was a wonderful opportunity because it was in its early stages of being a success story as a show". Ross Newton (born 20 February 1967) is an Australian actor, best known for playing Greg Marshall in the television series ''Home and Away''. Early life Newton was born and grew up in the Australian city of Melbourne. He first showed an interest in acting at the aged of five, after watching the film ''The Wizard of Oz''. By his teens, Newton knew he wanted a career in acting. In 1987, he began studying acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, New South Wales. Tristan Bancks (21 December 1974) is an Australian children's and teen's author, with a background in filmmaking and acting. As an actor, he is known for his role as Tug O'Neale on ''Home and Away'' between 1992 and 1994. Biography Bancks trained at Sydney's Q Theatre before landing a series regular role on ''Home and Away'' with his role being Tug O'Neale. Peter "Tug" O'Neale is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Tristan Bancks. The actor was selected from 200 people who had auditioned for the role and was contracted to appear for one month. Bancks soon joined the regular cast and Tug became a prominent character.
