Green Party Of Quebec
The Green Party of Quebec (GPQ; , PVQ) is a Quebec political party whose platform is the promotion of green politics. It has not won any seats in the National Assembly of Quebec. Its platform is oriented towards promotion of green values, sustainable development, and participatory democracy. The Green Party of Quebec is a coalition of activists and citizens for whom environmental questions are a priority. They believe that the government should help in creating a green, just, democratic and equal society. Their main principles are inspired from the Global Greens Charter which revolves around six main ideas: ecological wisdom, social justice, participatory democracy, nonviolence, sustainability and respect for diversity. Alex Tyrrell
Alex Tyrrell (born 23 March 1988) is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the Green Party of Quebec since 2013. Early life and education Born in 1988, Tyrrell grew up in Beaconsfield on the West Island of Montreal. Following his secondary education, Tyrrell enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Montreal's Dawson College. During his technical studies at the CEGEP, he worked on the issues of biofuels and became involved in an advocacy campaign to finance a project of design of electric vehicles for the students of his department. In 2011, Tyrrell enrolled in an environmental science program at Concordia University in Montreal, focusing his studies to better understand the problems of pollution, the impacts of climate change, and issues related to the environment. Montreal Biodome
The Montreal Biodome () is a museum of enclosed ecosystems located at Olympic Park in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, that allows visitors to walk through replicas of four ecosystems found in the Americas. It is one of two large-scale enclosed ecosystem structures in the Western Hemisphere, the other being Biosphere 2 in Tucson, Arizona. However, unlike the latter, the Montreal Biodome was designed primarily as a museum, resembles but is fundamentally different from a closed ecological system such as Biosphere 2. The building was originally constructed for the 1976 Olympic Games as a velodrome (cycling stadium) with 2,600 seats. It hosted both track cycling and judo events. The 1998 Quebec general election was held on November 30, 1998, to elect members of the National Assembly of the Province of Quebec, Canada. The incumbent Parti Québécois, led by Premier Lucien Bouchard, won re-election, defeating the Quebec Liberal Party, led by Jean Charest. To date this is the last election where the Parti Québécois won a majority of seats in the Quebec Assembly, although not the last in which it formed a government. Dimitrios I. Roussopoulos (born 1936) is a Canadian political activist and publisher. Early life Roussopoulos studied philosophy, politics, and economics at several Montreal and London universities. He has remained institutionally independent apart from teaching two years in the late 1960s at a progressive college. Career Roussopoulos’s political and peace activism began in London, England. He founded in 1959 the Combined Universities Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and organized the first post-war student demonstration in Ottawa. Montréal Écologique (, MÉ; ) was a municipal political party that existed from 1990 to 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The party's ideas were influenced by political theorist Murray Bookchin's idea of libertarian municipalism.
