Green Line (Lagos Transit)
The Green Line is a $3 billion planned metro service in Lagos, Nigeria owned by Lagos Rail Mass Transit run by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). The line will run 68 km from Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, with a connection to the Blue and Red Lines at Marina. It will serve key areas, including Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah. China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) are the two companies to initiate construction, with the companies leading on design, financing, and operation of the Green Line. China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) is an engineering contractor and a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), providing infrastructure construction, such as marine engineering, dredging and reclamation, road and bridge, railways, airports and plant construction. It is the second largest dredging company in the world, carrying out projects in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Lekki International Airport is a proposed airport in Lekki, Nigeria, designed for a capacity of 5 million passengers annually. Background The Lekki Airport project is projected to cost ₦71.64bn (US$ 450 million) in its first phase, planned to be situated 10 km from Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), and was originally proposed to open in 2028. It will be designed to cater for the Airbus A380, making it a Code F-compliant airport. In 2011, the Lagos State Government appointed Stanbic IBTC Bank as financial adviser for the airport project with a proposed 2012 opening. Ibeju-Lekki
Ibeju-Lekki is a local government area of Lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria. The administrative centre was formerly at Akodo and was later moved to Igando Oloja due to the creation of the Lekki Council Development Area. The name of the Local government was derived from two autonomous communities, Ibeju and Lekki. The demographics of the area include people from different parts of the country living, working and doing business in the area. Ibeju Lekki has potential for tourism as it is endowed with beautiful ocean front and lagoon views. The development in the area is rapid and ongoing, some even refer to the area as the new Lagos. Ajah, Lagos
Ajah is a town in Eti-Osa local government area in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is located on the Lekki Peninsula approximately 22 kilometres southeast of Lagos. History Ajah was founded by the Ojupon, Ogunsemo and Odugbese Abereoje families, who accommodated other families in the 16th century. The trio were the first settlers, and their major occupation was fishing. Among themselves, they appointed the Baale, who would to see to the affairs of the community while they were away fishing in the river. The Baale was from Ogunsemo. Lagos Metro
Lagos Rail Mass Transit is a rapid transit system in Lagos State. The rail system is managed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority ( LAMATA). The railway equipment including electric power, signals, rolling stock, and fare collection equipment will be provided by the private sector under a concession contract. LAMATA is responsible for policy direction, regulation, and infrastructure for the network. The first section of the network, Phase I of the Blue Line, was originally planned to be completed in 2011, though the construction has suffered many delays caused by shortage of funds and change of government. Victoria Island (VI) is an affluent area that encompasses a former island of the same name neighbouring Lagos Island, Ikoyi and the Lekki Peninsula by the Lagos Lagoon. It is the main business and finance, financial centre of Lagos State, Nigeria. Victoria Island is one of the most exclusive and expensive areas to reside in Lagos.
