Green Left (Hungary)
The Green Left ( hu, Zöld Baloldal; ZB), was a green eco-socialist political party in Hungary, founded in 2009. History It was established by the merger of the Alliance of Green Democrats (ZDSZ), the European Feminist Initiative for a Different Europe (EFKEME) and the Workers' Party of Hungary 2006. It has a green socialist, radical left, anti-capitalist and alter-globalist ideology. In March 2009, the Hungarian Anti-Fascist League and the Social Charta 2008 joined the alliance. The first leader of the party was György Droppa. On 30 May 2010, Marxist philosopher Gáspár Miklós Tamás was elected new president of the party. The ZB received only 0.03 percent of the individual votes in the 2010 parliamentary election, while its green party rival the Politics Can Be Different (LMP) jumped over the electoral threshold. The Alliance of Green Democrats ( hu, Zöld Demokraták Szövetsége; ZDSZ), was a green political party in Hungary between 2000 and 2009. History It was established by the merger of Green Alternative (ZA), Social Democracy 2000 Foundation (SD2000) and the Social Democrat Youth Movement (SZIM) on 3 June 2000. György Droppa (ZA) and István Podkoniczky (SD2000) were elected co-presidents, several leaving members of the Hungarian Social Democratic Party (MSZDP) had joined the newly established organization. In autumn 2001, the entrepreneur faction of the party led by Károly Garabits were entirely expelled from the party by a court decision after internal party conflicts. Gáspár Miklós Tamás (''G. M. Tamás''; hu, Tamás Gáspár Miklós; born 28 November 1948), often referred to in the media as TGM, is a Hungarian marxist-anarcho-syndicalist philosopher and public intellectual. He is currently a contributor to online newspaper ''Mérce'' and to ''OpenDemocracy'', where he writes primarily about political and aesthetic questions. He is the father of British poet and writer Rebecca Tamás. Biography Gáspár Miklós Tamás was born in today's Cluj, Romania, but he has been living in Budapest, Hungary, for years.
