Green Island (Kuwait)
The Green Island is an artificial island in Kuwait, off the coast of Kuwait City's promenade. It was opened in 1988 and became a tourist attraction. It is the first artificial island in the Persian Gulf region. It is also a waterside park with picnicking areas. In 2023 Kuwait announced the Green Island Season in celebration of the 62nd National Day and 32nd Liberation Day. The Season was developed by the Touristic Enterprise Company (TEC). The Season opened it's doors in the 12th of February, 2023. In this season the island set up many restaurants, cafés, games, and other entertainment facilities. The TEC, in cooperation with Zain, also hosted one of the largest drone show in Kuwait's history. Using 2,000 Drones to make displays of Kuwait's history, present, and future. Artificial Island
An artificial island is an island that has been constructed by people rather than formed by natural means. Artificial islands may vary in size from small islets reclaimed solely to support a single pillar of a building or structure to those that support entire communities and cities. Early artificial islands included floating structures in still waters or wooden or megalithic structures erected in shallow waters (e.g. crannógs and Nan Madol discussed below). In modern times artificial islands are usually formed by land reclamation, but some are formed by the incidental isolation of an existing piece of land during canal construction (e.g. Donauinsel, Ko Kret, and much of Door County, Wisconsin), or flooding of valleys resulting in the tops of former knolls getting isolated by water (e.g., Barro Colorado Island). Drone Art
Drone art (also known as drone display or drone light show) is the use of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), often quadcopters, flying in a coordinated fashion with light fixtures attached. They are usually equipped with multiple LEDs, and the display held at night. The first drone display was presented in 2012 in Linz/Austria, where the Ars Electronica Futurelab introduced SPAXELS (short for "space elements") for the first time. The displays may be for entertainment, where the drones may use flocking or swarming behaviour. The drones may also be coordinated to produce images.
