The Greater Chicago Soccer League , formerly the National Soccer League (Chicago), formed by the merger of the Chicago Soccer League and International Soccer Football League of Chicago in 1928, is a semi-professional U.S. soccer league which claims to be the oldest continuously operating soccer league in the United States. While the AFL, and others like it, catered to the British and Irish expatriate communities, there were few opportunities available to the rest of Chicago's many immigrant groups to play organized, competitive soccer. USL First Division
The USL First Division (USL-1) was a professional men's soccer league in the second tier of the United States league system. It was organized by the United Soccer League as its premier league for men from 1996 to 2010, above the USL Second Division. It began in the 1996 season as the Select League – consisting 21 of the league's best third-tier clubs. It soon merged with the American Professional Soccer League to become the A-League in the 1997 season. It adopted its final name in the 2005 season, following a restructure of the USL. RWB Adria (full name: ''Red White and Blue Adria'', Croatian: ''Crven, bijeli, plavi Jadran'') is an American soccer club from Chicago, Illinois. The club competed professionally in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup (National Challenge Cup) and the National Soccer League (Chicago). They were also known as the Ukrainian Lions. The Chicago Slovaks were a Chicago soccer team that was based in Berwyn, Illinois. They were the 1941 winners of the Kelley Cup. In 1942 and 1951, the Chicago Slovaks won the Peter J. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association.
