Grawiede
Grawiede is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is one of the outflows of the lake Dümmer, and it flows into the Hunte near Diepholz. Course The 17 km long Grawiede runs exclusively between the Lower Saxony inland lake Dümmer and the Lower Saxony district town of Diepholz. It originates from the Dümmer, specifically on its eastern side in Lembruch, then flows in a northerly direction east of Federal Highway 214, east of the Lohne River, and the Deutsche Bahn railway line Lemförde-Diepholz. Northeast of the city center of Diepholz, it receives the Strothe River on the left side, which was previously diverted from the Lohne. The Grawiede itself flows through the Diepholz district of Heede and finally flows into the Hunte to the north. The Grawiede has a catchment area of approximately 185 square kilometers, of which 7.24 square kilometers were declared as floodplains in 2007. Strothe (Lohne)
Strothe is a small river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It branches off the Lohne and flows into the Grawiede near Diepholz. Lohne and Grawiede are both tributaries of the Hunte. Course The 3.74 km long Strothe runs exclusively within the city limits of Diepholz. It branches off in an eastern direction from the Lohne River, southeast of the city center of Diepholz, then flows east of the Deutsche Bahn railway line and passes under the Federal Highway 214. Northeast of the city center of Diepholz, near the municipal yard and the sewage treatment plant, it flows into the Grawiede on the left side. Dümmer
The Dümmer () or officially Dümmer See is a large lake in southern Lower Saxony (Germany). It has a surface of 13.5 km2 and an average depth of one metre. Its elevation is 37 metres. Dümmer is a popular resort for water sports, but also an important biotope for water birds and located in a zone especially frequented by migratory birds. A large section of its shore is protected by nature reserve areas. Etymology The word "diummeri" is first attested in 965. „Dümmer“ ist probably derived from "dummerig", meaning moist or shaded, and "Meer“, meaning sea. In northwestern Germany, "Meer" is the traditional term for still waters surrounded by marshes (see: "Steinhuder Meer" and "Zwischenahner Meer"). Hunte
Hunte () is a long river in north-western Germany (Lower Saxony), a left tributary of the Weser. The Hunte rises in the Wiehen Hills. In the North German Plain it flows through lake Dümmer. It flows generally northwards through the towns Bad Essen, Diepholz, Wildeshausen and Oldenburg. It flows into the Weser in Elsfleth. The part between Oldenburg and the Weser is navigable for coastal cargo ships. The Küsten Canal, suitable for inland navigation only, links the Hunte in Oldenburg to river Ems near Papenburg. Diepholz
Diepholz (; Northern Low Saxon: ''Deefholt'') is a town and capital of the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the rivers Hunte and Lohne, approximately 45 km northeast of Osnabrück, and 60 km southwest of Bremen.
