''Gravity Dreams'' is a 1999 science fiction novel by L. E. Modesitt, Jr. Synopsis The novel is set in the year 4512, when humans have achieved spaceflight faster than the speed of light, along with nanotechnology. Gravity Dreams centers around main character, Tyndel, who was raised in Dorcha, whose culture uses the philosophy of Dzin as a means of social control. Stephen Youll
Stephen Youll (born 8 June 1965 in Hartlepool) is a British science fiction artist. He got his start in the genre when his work, done in conjunction with his twin brother Paul, was seen in 1987 at the 45th World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton, England. His first commission, a collaboration with Paul, was for the cover painting for ''Emerald Eyes'' by Daniel Keys Moran that was published by Bantam Books. The brothers continued to work together until Stephen moved to the United States. Painting originally in acrylics, he switched to oils and has produced pieces for such clients as Bantam, Ballantine/ Del Rey, Warner and Avon. Spaceflight (or space flight) is an application of astronautics to fly spacecraft into or through outer space, either with or without humans on board. Nanotechnology, also shortened to nanotech, is the use of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale for industrial purposes. The earliest, widespread description of nanotechnology referred to the particular technological goal of precisely manipulating atoms and molecules for fabrication of macroscale products, also now referred to as molecular nanotechnology.
