Gravesend (film)
''Gravesend'' is a 1996 criminal drama film directed by Salvatore Stabile. Plot summary After a quick narration by director Stabile, as well as a flash forward, the film's plot begins with Zane, Mikey, Ray and Chicken spending a Saturday night in Ray's basement. Throughout the film, the backgrounds of the four young men are explained by Stabile during scenes which pertain to the respected characters the most: Ray's parents died while he was young, which left him to be raised by his older brother Mark. Their upbringing together was bitter and would result in violent tendencies to grow between them. Zane grew up without a father, and had trouble staying in schools before ultimately being kicked out of his mother's house due to his behavior. Chicken developed drug habits at an early age as a result of witnessing the murder of his older brother, and his mother abandoned him when he was 15. Salvatore Stabile
Salvatore "Sal" Stabile is an American television and feature film writer, director and producer. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1974, he directed his first feature film, ''Gravesend'' (1997), when he was 19 years old. Stabile has gone on to write for numerous television shows, including ''The Sopranos'' (2001) and '' Rescue Me'' (2004). Early life Salvatore Stabile was born and raised in a section of Brooklyn known as Gravesend, close to Coney Island. He graduated from Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge, then attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Stabile began writing while he was in high school. Louis Mario Freese (born June 2, 1970), known by his stage name B-Real, is an American rapper. Since 1991, he has been one of two lead rappers in the hip hop group Cypress Hill, along with Sen Dog. Local H is an American rock band co-founded in 1990 in Zion, Illinois by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, who has remained the band's sole consistent member. Following the departures of the early line-up's bassist and lead guitarist, Lucas and co-founding drummer Joe Daniels continued as an unorthodox two-piece setup. Local H signed a record contract with Island Records in 1994, where they would go on to release three albums. Lordz of Brooklyn is an American hip hop group from New York. The group was started by brothers Michael McLeer ( Kaves) and Adam McLeer (ADMoney) as the Verrazano Boys but eventually changed to Lordz of Brooklyn where they were joined by Dino Cerillo (Bottz), Paul Nugent (Paulie Two Times), and Scotty Westerman (Scotty Edge). In 1995, their debut album ''All in the Family'', received favorable reviews and established them as a well known underground group. Through the rest of the 90s, they would often collaborate with Everlast and in 2000 with Bumpy Knuckles they released the EP ''The Lordz of Brooklyn Meet Bumpy Knuckles''.
