Grassy, also known as Arthur or New Salem, is an unincorporated community in Lauderdale County, Alabama, Lauderdale County, in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is concentrated around the intersection of Alabama State Route 64, State Route 64 and County Highway 89, east of Lexington, Alabama, Lexington, northwest of Anderson, Alabama, Anderson, and just south of the Tennessee border. History Grassy took its name in the 1870s from the local Grassy School; the school was so named for the condition of its grassy schoolyard. A post office operated under the name Arthur from 1886 to 1907. Grassy Memorial Chapel, which lies near the center of the community, was established in 1894 as the New Salem Presbyterian Church. Grassy is a rural locality in the local government area (LGA) of King Island in the north-west and west LGA region of Tasmania. It is about south-east of the town of Currie. Grassy Cove
Grassy Cove is an enclosed valley in Cumberland County, Tennessee, United States. The valley is notable for its karst formations, which have been designated a National Natural Landmark. Grassy Cove is also home to a small unincorporated community. Grassy Cove is located atop the Cumberland Plateau, approximately east of Crossville and west of the plateau's Walden Ridge escarpment. The mountains that surround the cove are part of the southern fringe of the Cumberland Mountains. The cove is geologically related to the Sequatchie Valley, a large narrow valley stretching just opposite the mountains to the south. Tennessee State Route 68 passes through the northern part of Grassy Cove, providing the valley's only major road access. Grassy Island
Grassy Island is a small, uninhabited American island in the Detroit River. It is located just north of Grosse Ile and west of Fighting Island, about west of the Canada–United States border. The island is part of the city of Wyandotte, in Wayne County. The island is part of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge. Grassy Island should not be confused with Grass Island, which is an island of Ontario on the exact opposite side of the Detroit River. Grassy Island was first charted by French explorers in 1796 as ''Ile Marecageuse'' (Marshy Island). Grassy Key, Florida, is an island in the middle Florida Keys. It is located on U.S. 1 (or the Overseas Highway), near mile markers 57—60, below the Conch Keys. It has an area of 3.65 km², with a population of 974 as of the census 2000. It is one of the northernmost islands in a chain of islands that comprises the City of Marathon, Florida. Grassy Lake Dam is a small dam operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Teton County, Wyoming, immediately to the south of Yellowstone National Park. The dam lies in a corridor of Bridger-Teton National Forest that runs between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The dam structure and outlets are within a few hundred feet of the south boundary of Yellowstone.
