Grand View Vikings
The Grand View Vikings are the athletic teams that represent Grand View University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) since the 2015–16 academic year. The Vikings previously competed in the defunct Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) from 1989–90 to 2014–15 (when the conference dissolved). Grand View added women's soccer in 1998 and re-instated competitive dance (2002), cross country (2003), golf (2004) and track (2006) in the early 2000's. Grand View University
Grand View University is a private liberal arts university in Des Moines, Iowa. Founded in 1896 and affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the university enrolls approximately 2,000 students and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. History Grand View College and Seminary was started in 1896 by members of the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In 1912, Grand View opened a high school academy department. Instruction at the junior college level began in 1924 and accreditation by the Iowa State Department of Public Instruction came in 1938 following the dissolution of the academy. ''Viewfinder'' is the official student magazine of Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, published in print and online viviewfindergv.com It was founded as a newspaper in 1949, and its publication is funded by advertising revenues as well as funds from the student activities fees. The magazine is published once a month during the fall and spring semesters. The printed circulation is 2,000 and is distributed mostly on campus. 2013 NAIA Football National Championship
The 2013 NAIA football national championship was a four-round sixteen team tournament played between November 23 through December 21 of 2013. The tournament concluded on December 21 with a single game played as the 58th Annual Russell Athletic NAIA Football National Championship. The game matched two undefeated teams: #1 Cumberlands Patriots (13-0) against #2 Grand View Vikings. The championship game was played at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. A total of sixteen teams participated in the single-elimination tournament from across the country. Briar Cliff University
Briar Cliff University is a private Franciscan university in Sioux City, Iowa. History In March 1929, Mother Mary Dominica Wieneke, Major Superior of the Sisters of Saint Francis of the Holy Family of Dubuque, Iowa, along with Edmond Heelan, Bishop of the Sioux City Diocese, co-founded Briar Cliff College after meeting with members of the Sioux City community, who committed to raising $25,000 to support the establishment of a Catholic women's college in Sioux City. The twelve foundresses of the college were carefully chosen by Mother Dominica. They were led by Sister Mary Servatius Greenen, who was named the first president. On September 18, 1930, the college, named after the hill on which it is located, was dedicated. Four days later, 25 women started classes in Heelan Hall, the only building on campus at the time. Mid-States Football Association
The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference sponsors only football. Member institutions are located in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The MSFA was organized in 1993, and on-field competition began in 1994. The conference is divided into two leagues, the Mideast League and the Midwest League. The two MSFA league champions each earn an automatic bid to the NAIA football national championship playoffs. St. Ambrose University (SAU) is a private Catholic university in Davenport, Iowa, United States. It was founded as a school of commerce for young men in 1882. History Foundation St. Ambrose was founded as a seminary and school of commerce for young men in 1882, known as St. Ambrose Academy. Sam Rayburn High School
Sam Rayburn High School is a public high school located in Pasadena, Texas in the United States. The school is a part of the Pasadena Independent School District. History The school opened in 1964 and was expanded and renovated in the early 2000s. It is named after Samuel Taliaferro Rayburn, a Texas native and member of Texas House of Representatives and the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives who served for 17 years.
