Graham Webb (Australian Broadcaster)
Graham "Spider" Webb (19 April 1936 – 26 April 2024) was an Australian radio and television broadcaster and producer. Career Webb began his radio career at 2TM, Tamworth, New South Wales in 1954. In 1955 he moved to Brisbane to become the "junior" announcer for 4BH, before moving on to 4GY Gympie to gain more experience. After a stint in National Service, Webb returned to Sydney in 1957, where he became the announcer for the Sunday religious programs on 2CH. Subsequently, Webb became Reg Grundy's offsider on the radio version of '' Wheel of Fortune''. In late 1957, Webb joined radio station 2UE, where he hosted the first Top 40 radio show on Sydney radio in the late 1950s, working with Gary O'Callaghan, John Laws, Tony Withers and Bob Rogers. This was followed by a brief move to 4KQ in Brisbane in 1960, then back to Sydney to host the 2GB breakfast show in 1961. Hush (band)
Hush was an Australian glam rock pop band, which formed in 1971 and disbanded in 1977. For most of that time their line-up was lead singer Keith Lamb with Les Gock on lead guitar, Rick Lum on bass guitar and Chris 'Smiley' Pailthorpe on drums. They had top 10 hits on the Kent Music Report with their cover versions of " Bony Moronie" and "Glad All Over" (both 1975). The group frequently appeared on the TV pop music show, '' Countdown'', and toured nationally. Marcia Elaine Hines AM (born July 20, 1953) is an American-born Australian singer and TV personality. Hines made her debut, at the age of 16, in the Australian production of the stage musical ''Hair'' and followed with the role of Mary Magdalene in ''Jesus Christ Superstar''. She achieved her greatest commercial successes as a recording artist during the late 1970s with several hit singles, including cover versions of " Fire and Rain", "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself", "You" and " Something's Missing (In My Life)"; and her Top Ten albums '' Marcia Shines'', '' Shining'' and '' Ladies and Gentlemen''. Stylus (band)
Stylus were an Australian blue-eyed soul group formed in 1975. They were the only Australian act to be released by Motown Records in the USA. Stylus toured supporting George Benson, Average White Band, Ike & Tina Turner, and Little River Band. According to rock music historian, Ian McFarlane, Stylus "scored a number of hit singles and became very popular on the Australian pub and concert circuit". The group disbanded in 1979 and subsequently had various reunions. In 1998-99 Japan's Toshiba-EMI re-issued three Stylus albums on CDs (''For the Love of Music'', ''Best Kept Secret'' and ''Part of It All''). Harry Nilsson
Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994), sometimes credited as Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter who reached the peak of his success in the early 1970s. His work is characterized by pioneering vocal overdub experiments, a return to the Great American Songbook, and fusions of Caribbean music, Caribbean sounds. Nilsson was one of the few major pop-rock recording artists to achieve significant commercial success without performing major public concerts or touring regularly. Kristoffer Kristofferson (June 22, 1936 – September 28, 2024) was an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He was a pioneering figure in the outlaw country movement of the 1970s, moving away from the polished Nashville sound and toward a more raw, introspective style. ''Sounds'', originally broadcast as ''Sound Unlimited'', was a popular Australian television series featuring pop and rock music, live performances, music videos and interviews. It was broadcast on Saturday mornings, from 9 a.m. for three hours, on the Seven Network beginning in late 1974 to end in December 1987. For most of its run it was hosted by former disc jockey, Donnie Sutherland. Mal Walden (born 20 May 1943) is an Australian retired journalist and television news presenter based in Melbourne. On his retirement, he was reported to be the longest continually serving face on Australian television with a media career spanning six decades. Biography Walden was the main presenter of the Seven Network Melbourne program ''Seven National News'' from 1978 to 1987 and the Ten Network program ''Ten Eyewitness News'' from 1987 until 2013.
