Graham Ross (horticulturalist)
Graham Ross AM (born October 1947) is an Australian horticulturalist, author, television presenter and radio presenter. In 2011 he was presented with London's Royal Horticultural Society's Veitch Memorial Medal (VMM) in recognition of his contribution to gardening and horticulture in Australia. The VMM is an international award issued annually by London's Royal Horticultural Society. Ross is only the fourth Australian to receive the VMM since its inception in 1870. He is the only Australian in history to have been appointed a Life Fellow of the prestigious Royal Botanic Gardens Kew Guild, London. Career Ross's career began in Sydney during the late 1970s when he started presenting gardening segments and programs for ABC Television in 1978. Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne
Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria are botanic gardens across two sites–Melbourne and Cranbourne. Melbourne Gardens was founded in 1846 when land was reserved on the south side of the Yarra River for a new botanic garden. It extends across that slope to the river with trees, garden beds, lakes and lawns. It displays almost 50,000 individual plants representing 8,500 different species. These are displayed in 30 living plant collections. Cranbourne Gardens was established in 1970 when land was acquired by the Gardens on Melbourne's south-eastern urban fringe for the purpose of establishing a garden dedicated to Australian plants. Timothy John Entwisle
Timothy John Entwisle (born 1960), is an Australian botanist, much of whose research work is in phycology (algae). See for example the articles. He was awarded a Ph.D. from La Trobe University in 1986 for work on the taxonomy of '' Vaucheria''. He was New South Wales’ Government Botanist in 2007 and 2008, and for eight years was the executive director of the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney (2003–2011). David Glenn (garden Designer)
David Glenn is an Australian garden designer. He has been recognised as an early exponent of a new style of Dry Climate Gardening with perennials in Australia. His garden ''Lambley'' is located at Ascot, 12 km North of Ballarat in Victoria, Australia. The development of the garden coincided with the millennial drought experienced throughout much of Eastern Australia over the period 2000 to 2010 and earlier. At the time, the garden was recognised internationally for its innovative use of plant types and forms. It was represented as one of the first really considered responses to the challenges of gardening in the Australian climate without resorting to native plantings. Glenn is acknowledged in some texts for developing the exemplar for dry climate gardening in the southern hemisphere.
