Graduation Party
''Festa di laurea'', internationally released as ''Graduation Party'', is a 1985 Italian drama film directed by Pupi Avati. For his soundtrack Riz Ortolani won a Nastro d'Argento for Best Score. Plot Romagna countryside, 1950, near the sea. The baker Vanni Porelli is commissioned to organize the graduation party of Mrs. Gaia's daughter in a dilapidated abandoned farmhouse. The work is difficult and the woman refuses to pay even an advance, but Vanni accepts, because ten years earlier, on the occasion of the 1940 declaration of war, he had been kissed by surprise by Gaia, with whose family the mother of him, and had been naively in love with him so much that he ended up separating from his wife. Vanni gets to work, helped by his son Nicola, by two orphans adopted by his wife, by some evacuees who had illegally occupied the farmhouse and by other occasional collaborators. Pupi Avati
Giuseppe Avati, better known as Pupi Avati (born 3 November 1938), is an Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known to horror film fans for his two '' giallo'' masterpieces, '' The House with Laughing Windows'' (1976) and '' Zeder'' (1983). Early life and career Pupi Avati was born in Bologna in 1938. After attending school and studying political science at the University of Florence, he started working at a frozen food company. At the same time, he developed a passion for jazz, becoming a proficient clarinetist. In the second half of the 1950s, he formed and played in the Doctor Dixie Jazz Band, of which Lucio Dalla was also a member. Although he initially intended to be a professional musician, Avati felt he lacked the necessary talent. Nik Novecento (19 February 1964 – 15 October 1987) was an Italian actor and television personality. Life and career Born in Bologna as Leonardo Sottani, Novecento's career was launched by film director Pupi Avati Giuseppe Avati, better known as Pupi Avati (born 3 November 1938), is an Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is known to horror film fans for his two '' giallo'' masterpieces, '' The House with Laughing Windows'' (1976) and '' ..., who discovered Novecento when he was working at a gas station; Novecento starred in six Avati's films between 1983 and 1987. Aside from his film career, Novecento gained some popularity as regular opinionist of '' Maurizio Costanzo Show'' and as television host of the Avati's TV-show ''Hamburger Serenade'', broadcast by RaiUno in 1986. Riz Ortolani
Riziero Ortolani (; 25 March 192623 January 2014) was an Italian composer, conductor, and orchestrator, predominantly of film scores. He scored over 200 films and television programs between 1955 and 2014, with a career spanning over fifty years. Internationally, he is best known for his genre scores, notably his music for mondo, giallo, horror, and Spaghetti Western films. His most famous composition is " More," which he wrote for the infamous film ''Mondo Cane''. It won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Theme and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 36th Academy Awards. The song was later covered by Frank Sinatra, Kai Winding, Andy Williams, Roy Orbison, and others.
