Govindganj Assembly constituency is an assembly constituency in Purvi Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar. Overview As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 14. Govindganj Assembly constituency is composed of the following: Areraj and Paharpur community development blocks; and Paschimi Sangrampur, Purbi Sangrampur and Dakshani Bariyaria of Sangrampur CD Block. Brahmin voters have dominance in Govindganj Vidhan Sabha and its nearby areas, that is why MLAs from Brahmin caste have always been elected here, all the parties here mostly give tickets to Brahmin candidates for Brahmin votes. 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The Bihar Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases through October–November to elect members to the Seventeenth Bihar Legislative Assembly. The term of the previous Sixteenth Legislative Assembly of Bihar ended on 29 November 2020. The election was held in three phases for a total of 243 seats:- the first for 71 seats on 28 October 2020, the second for 94 seats on 3 November 2020, and the third for the remaining 78 seats on 7 November 2020. 1980 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in 1980, to elect members to the Bihar Legislative Assembly. After the elections, the Congress emerged as the largest party, and Jagannath Mishra was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Later, Chandrashekhar Singh became the Chief Minister from 14 August 1983 to 12 March 1985. The elections were held after President Neelam Sanjiva Reddy ordered the imposition of President's rule in the state on the advice of the Fourth Indira Gandhi ministry, which acted on basis that the victory of the Indian National Congress in the 1980 Indian general election proved that the government no longer reflected the will of the pepule.
