The Governor of Tula Oblast is the head of Tula Oblast, the federal subject of Russia. Governor is elected by the people of Tula Oblast for five years. The current governor is Alexey Dyumin. History From 1777 to 1796 the power in the Tula Vicegerency was divided between Governors-General and Vicegerents. The highest political power was exercised by the Governors-General. They had unlimited powers and were subject exclusively to the Russian Monarch. As a rule, each Governor-General directed several regions at the same time. In charge of the Vicegerents was directly economic activities in the field. In 1797 the Tula Governorate was formed, which was headed by the Governor appointed by the Monarch. Alexey Dyumin
Alexei Gennadyevich Dyumin (russian: Алексей Геннадьевич Дюмин; born 28 August 1972) is a Russian politician, serving as Governor of Tula Oblast since 2016. Previously he served as President Vladimir Putin's chief security guard and assistant before being promoted to lead the Russian military's Special Operations Forces, where he oversaw the annexation of Crimea in 2014. The following year, he became Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation. He holds the rank of lieutenant general and is a recipient of the Hero of the Russian Federation title. 2021 Tula Oblast Gubernatorial Election
The 2021 Tula Oblast gubernatorial election took place on 17–19 September 2021, on common election day, coinciding with election to the State Duma. Incumbent governor Aleksey Dyumin was re-elected for his second term. Background Aleksey Dyumin in February 2016 replaced Vladimir Gruzdev as Governor of Tula Oblast, before the appointment Dyumin served as Deputy Minister of Defense (2015-2016) and Vladimir Putin's adjutant. Dyumin ran as an Independent with the support from United Russia and LDPR and won 2016 election with 84.17% of the vote. The 2016 Tula Oblast gubernatorial election took place on September 18, 2016, to elect the governor of Tula Oblast. Election took place concurrently with Federal legislative election and local elections in Single Electoral Day. Background Until 2012, the governor of Tula Oblast was not elected, but was appointed by the president of Russia, with the approval of the Tula Oblast Duma. Direct elections were introduced in 2012. In August 2011, Vladimir Gruzdev became governor. His term expired in August 2016 and he could be elected for a second term; however, Gruzdev resigned from office in February 2016, and Alexey Dyumin became the acting governor until election.
