Gottlieb Berger
Gottlieb R. Berger (October 3, 1885 – December 14, 1973) served as mayor of Murray, Utah from 1934 to 1941. He was a foreman for the American Smelting and Refining Company (ASARCO), and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a son of Murray founding father Gottlieb Berger who served on the city council when the city was incorporated. Murray () is a city situated on the Wasatch Front in the core of Salt Lake Valley in the U.S. state of Utah. Named for territorial governor Eli Murray, the city had a population of 50,637 as of the 2020 United States Census. Fred Peters (politician)
Frederick "Fred" Peters was mayor of Murray, Utah, United States, from 1932 to 1934. He was born at Gelderland, Netherlands, and came to Utah at the age of 1. As a young man he worked as a "moler" for the Union Pacific Railway. He later entered the mattress and upholstery business, and eventually started a wallpaper and interior decorating business. In 1912 he became City Marshal, and held this office until 1916. From 1916 to 1931, Peters was the city's health officer. During his administration, the new Murray city electric power plant was completed. He was an officer in the local Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a member of the State Firemen's Association as he was a volunteer in the Murray Fire Department, Yeoman(fraternal order), and Woodmen of the World. Curtis Shaw
Curtis L. Shaw (March 1, 1888 – February 19, 1944) was mayor of Murray, Utah from 1942 to 1943. He was born in Union, Utah March 1, 1888. He was educated in the Fort Union area and was a farmer up to the time he moved to Murray in 1921. He was a general construction contractor since 1908 where he built homes as well as two power plants in Murray and one in Bountiful Canyon. He was a member of the Murray Lions Club for 14 years and was the chapter's vice president. His tenure for mayor was noted for his opposition to transforming the city into a city manager form of government. His campaign called referred to such a government as creating a "dictator."Curtis L. American Smelting And Refining Company
ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company) is a mining, smelting, and refining company based in Tucson, Arizona, which mines and processes primarily copper. The company has been a subsidiary of Grupo México since 1999. Its three largest open-pit mines are the Mission, Silver Bell and Ray mines in Arizona. Its mines produce of copper a year. ASARCO conducts solvent extraction and electrowinning at the Ray and Silver Bell mines in Pima County, Arizona, and Pinal County, Arizona, and operates a smelter in Hayden, Arizona. ASARCO's smelting plant in El Paso, Texas, was suspended in 1999 and then demolished on April 13, 2013. Before closing, the plant produced of anodes each year. Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) is a fraternal organization that was founded on February 6, 1898, in Seattle, Washington, by a group of six theater-owners including John Cort (impresario), John Cort (the first president), brothers John Considine (Seattle), John W. and Tim J. Considine, Harry (H.L.) Leavitt (who later joined the Loyal Order of Moose), Mose Goldsmith and Arthur Williams. Midvale City is located in the heart of Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area.
