Goth Babe is the American indie rock solo project of singer-songwriter Griff Washburn. After releasing a series of singles and EPs, the first Goth Babe album title ''Lola'' was released in 2024. Early life Washburn was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee Chattanooga ( ) is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States, and its county seat. It is located along the Tennessee River and borders Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia to the south. With a population of 181,099 in 2020, it is Tennessee ..., and moved to Nashville to pursue his music career before moving to New York and ultimately to the West Coast. Career Washburn released his debut album ''Lola'' in 2024. Additionally, Washburn played at Hinterland Music Festival on August 5th, 2022. Personal life Washburn has stated he suffers from PTSD after being held up by gunpoint. In 2022, Washburn's home burned down and he lost his iMac with years worth of unreleased music. Chillwave
Chillwave (originally considered synonymous with glo-fi and hypnagogic pop) is a music microgenre that emerged in the late 2000s. It is characterized by evoking the popular music of the late 1970s and early 1980s while engaging with notions of memory and nostalgia. Common features include a faded or dreamy retro pop music, pop sound, Escapism, escapist lyrics (frequent topics include the beach or summer), psychedelic music, psychedelic or lo-fi music, lo-fi aesthetics, mellow vocals, slow-to-moderate tempos, Effects unit, effects processing (especially reverb), and vintage synthesizers. Mom + Pop Music is a New York City–based independent record label. Founded by Michael Goldstone in 2008, its roster includes Alicia Keys, Courtney Barnett, Magdalena Bay, Madeon, Tom Morello, Porter Robinson, Maya Hawke, Tycho, Tash Sultana, Sunflower Bean, Beach Bunny, Caamp, and Del Water Gap.
