Goteki
Goteki () are a British electro band. They are the musical brainchild of composer Ross Tregenza. They were heavily involved in the development of UK electronic body music (EBM) and cybergoth genres in the early 2000s. Goteki split up in 2006, but reformed in 2008 as a three piece live act expanded from Tregenza's solo studio creations. They refer to their new musical style as 'death electro': a mix of alternative electro pop and industrial combined with influences from film and video game scores. Current activity Goteki's reformation in August 2008 saw them return as a two-piece (Ross Tregenza and Alastair Power, performing under the names of Tregenza and Ali-Star). Sneaky Bat Machine
Sneaky Bat Machine (1997–2000) were a Bristol, UK based Cybergoth band who gigged heavily and released one album in the late 1990s. The band consisted of Sneakybat ( Ross Tregenza), Crash (a.k.a. Clive Lewis), and Maxislag (a.k.a. Maxi). Maxi was later replaced by Doktor A (a.k.a. Bruce Attley) after he left to join Katscan. The band were well known for their unique stylings, a strange mix of cartoon gothic imagery and electropop musical backing. Song subjects were equally outlandish, covering subjects such as grave-robbing and fighting space invaders. They became unwitting spokesmen for the fledgling British cybergoth genre of music (characterized by light electronic music mixed with industrial vocals, but more widely known for its followers' crazy hairstyles and colourful, outlandish fashion sense). Visage (band)
Visage were a British synthpop band, formed in London in 1978. The band became closely linked to the burgeoning New Romantic fashion movement of the early 1980s, and are best known for their hit " Fade to Grey" which was released in late 1980. In the UK, the band achieved two Top 20 albums (''Visage'' and '' The Anvil'') and five Top 30 singles before the commercial failure of their third album ('' Beat Boy'') led to their break-up in 1985. The band has seen various line-up changes over the years, all fronted by vocalist Steve Strange, who resurrected the band name in the 2000s. In 2013, the most recent line-up of the band released '' Hearts and Knives'', the first new Visage album in 29 years. Whitby Goth Weekend, abbreviated to WGW or nicknamed Whitby, is a twice-yearly music festival for the gothic subculture, in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England, organised by Jo Hampshire. Summary Whitby Goth Weekend is an alternative music festival held in Whitby. The event consists of two nights of live bands, and three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) of alternative trade stalls at the Whitby Leisure Centre, and Whitby Brunswick Centre. The term "Whitby Goth Weekend" is sometimes used as a generic term to describe events during the week in Whitby as a whole, although the name of the event and its associated logo are registered trademarks of Jo Hampshire of Top Mum Promotions. Concept Album
A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. This is typically achieved through a single central narrative or theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, or lyrical. DeathBoy is the pseudonym of Midlands-born musician Scott Lamb, and also the name of his band. History Scott Lamb Lamb started making music at the age of thirteen, creating music in the breakbeat and rave genres using OctaMED on the Amiga. At school, he met Matthew Phillips (also known as "The Phil"), who became his long-term lyrical collaborator and friend. In 1995, he went to Liverpool University, and began using the name DeathBoy. Beforehand he had been releasing tracks under the name Technohead, and wanted to avoid confusion with the newly popular gabber artist Technohead. After graduating in 1998, he spent six months working for a games company in Aldridge which went bust, before working at Blitz Games in Leamington Spa, where he met Phil Palmer, later to be his live drummer. Chemlab
Chemlab is an American industrial rock band formed in Washington D.C. in 1989 by Dylan Thomas More, Joe Frank, and Jared Louche (then known as Hendrickson). Influenced by the pioneers of the industrial genre, such as Throbbing Gristle, Chemlab mixed experimental sounds with rock and metal within an electronic framework. They released their first EP '' 10 Ton Pressure'' (1990), parted ways with Frank and moved to New York City, their base for the duration of their career. Jared Louche (born Jared Hendrickson; December 11, 1960) is an American musician best recognized as the front-man of industrial rock outfit Chemlab. He also founded the band H3llb3nt and has collaborated with Pigface, Progrex.iv and Vampire Rodents. He released a solo album, titled ''Covergirl'' in 1999. Biography In July 1984, Jared Hendrickson and Tom Smith formed Peach of Immortality. They released a handful of demo recordings before disbanding in 1991. Icon of Coil is a Norwegian electronic music band. The band was established as a solo project in 1997 by Andy LaPlegua who was joined by former Sector 9 (now Moonitor and Zombie Girl) bandmate Sebastian Komor to perform live. With the release of ''Shallow Nation'', the band's first single, Komor joined full-time. In 2000, Christian Lund joined the live lineup. Sebastian R. Komor (born 7 May 1976) is a Polish-born, Norwegian-raised electronic musician, best known for his collaborative work in Icon of Coil and Zombie Girl. A prolific artist, Komor has also released electronic music under a variety of solo projects and aliases since the late 1990s. Biography Sebastian Komor was born in Zabrze, Poland, in 1976 and moved to Norway in 1981, where he would remain for over twenty years. He first acquired a keyboard in his late teens and released his first music demo in 1992.
