Gospel Nights
''Gospel Nights'' is a live album by American singer Maria Muldaur. It was recorded in 1980 at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. It was originally released on the Takoma Records label. Maria was joined by the Chambers Brothers, The Burns Sisters, and friends. Muldaur had been a staple on the folk circuit in the 1960s, originally with the Jim Kweskin & the Jug Band. She married fellow Jug Band member Geoff Muldaur, and after the Kweskin group broke up and after two albums with Geoff, she went solo and had a hit on Warner Bros. with "Midnight at the Oasis" in 1973. Maria Muldaur (born Maria Grazia Rosa Domenica D'Amato; September 12, 1942) is an American folk and blues singer who was part of the American folk music revival in the early 1960s. She recorded the 1973 hit song " Midnight at the Oasis" and has recorded albums in the folk, blues, early jazz, gospel, country, and R&B traditions. She was the wife of musician Geoff Muldaur and is the mother of singer-songwriter Jenni Muldaur. Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett III (born January 14, 1948) is an American record producer, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was a guitarist in Bob Dylan's band during the 1970s. Burnett has won several Grammy Awards for his work on film soundtracks, namely '' O Brother, Where Art Thou?'' (2000), '' Cold Mountain'' (2004), '' Walk the Line'' (2005), and '' Crazy Heart'' (2010). John Van Hamersveld (born September 1, 1941, Baltimore, Maryland, United States) is an Americans, American graphic artist and illustrator who designed record jackets for pop and psychedelic bands from the 1960s onward. Among the 300 albums are the covers of ''Magical Mystery Tour'' by the Beatles, ''Crown of Creation'' by Jefferson Airplane, ''Exile on Main Street'' by the Rolling Stones, and ''Hotter than Hell (album), Hotter Than Hell'' by Kiss (band), Kiss. David Mansfield
David Mansfield (born September 13, 1956) is an American musician and composer. Mansfield was raised in Leonia, New Jersey. His father, Newton Mansfield was a first violinist in the New York Philharmonic. David played guitar, pedal steel guitar and fiddle in his first band, called Quacky Duck and His Barnyard Friends, which also included two sons of Tony Bennett. Bob Dylan asked Mansfield to tour with him on his 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue tour; he remained in Dylan's band through their 1978 world tour. After the Revue ended in 1976, Mansfield and two other members of Dylan's band, T-Bone Burnett and Steven Soles, formed The Alpha Band. Turner Stephen Bruton (November 7, 1948 – May 9, 2009) was an American actor and musician. Background Born in Wilmington, Delaware, United States, he moved with his family to Texas at the age of two. Steven Soles
Steven Soles is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and guitarist. Known also as J. Steven Soles, he was asked by Bob Dylan to join the band for his 1975–1976 "Rolling Thunder Revue" tour, he appeared on Dylan's album "Desire" and he also played with Dylan on ''Street-Legal (album), Street Legal'' and the following tour, including the live album ''Bob Dylan at Budokan''. When that tour ended, Soles and two other members of Dylan's band, T Bone Burnett and David Mansfield, formed The Alpha Band. Like most of the musicians in The Rolling Thunder Revue, Soles appeared in the 1978 film, ''Renaldo and Clara'', in which he played the rôle of Ramon. Ronald Ellis Tutt (March 12, 1938 – October 16, 2021) was an American drummer who was the principal drummer for Elvis Presley, the Carpenters, Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond, and Jerry Garcia. McCabe's Guitar Shop is a musical instrument store and live music venue on Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California, United States. Opened in 1958 by Gerald L. McCabe, a well-known furniture designer. Geoff Muldaur (born August 12, 1943) is an American singer, guitarist and composer, who was a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and a member of Paul Butterfield's Better Days. Career Having established a reputation with the Kweskin Jug Band during the 1960s, Geoff and his then wife Maria Muldaur recorded their first album, ''Pottery Pie'', for Warner Bros. Records in 1968. this album contained his version of "Brazil" (" Aquarela do Brasil"), which became the theme for the film ''Brazil'' (1985) directed by Terry Gilliam.
