Bert Gosnell
Albert Arthur Gosnell (10 February 1880 – 6 January 1972) was an England international footballer who played in two FA Cup finals for Newcastle United in the early 20th century and later managed Norwich City. An outside-left, he began his career with local club Colchester Town before joining Newcastle United following spells with New Brompton and Chatham. He featured in the 1905 and 1906 FA Cup finals, both of which ended in defeat. During his time at Newcastle, the club won the First Division title three times: 1904–05, 1906–07 and 1908–09. In 1910, he had a brief spell at Tottenham Hotspur before moving on to Darlington. He ended his career after spending the 1912–13 season with Port Vale. During his time with Newcastle, he won one cap for England in February 1906. He took his first and only management job at Norwich City in 1921. Harold Foote Gosnell
Harold Foote Gosnell (December 24, 1896 – January 8, 1997) was an American political scientist and writer, known for his research and writings on American politics, elections, and political parties. Gosnell attended the University of Rochester, graduating summa cum laude in 1918. He went on to the University of Chicago, where in 1922 he received his doctorate. He became a professor at Chicago and taught there until 1941. During World War II, he went to Washington, D.C., as a budget analyst and later as an operations officer for the United States Department of State, while he continued to study and write on politics. He served in the federal government until 1960, and was on the faculty at American University. From 1962 to 1972, he was a professor of political science at Howard University. James Fredrick Gosnell (c. 1918–1986) commonly called "Fred" was a mayor of London, Ontario, Canada from January 1, 1972 to March 6, 1972. His son Tom Gosnell was the mayor of London from 1986 to 1994 and was later the deputy mayor and budget chief from 2003 to 2010. Jim Gosnell
James Gosnell (7 July 1899 – 7 July 1969) was an Australian rules footballer who played with West Perth Football Club, West Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) during the 1920s. Gosnell was a defender and started his WAFL career in 1918. He then spent the next two years in the Goldfields Football League where he played at Kalgoorlie Railways. In 1921 he returned to West Perth and featured regularly in their team for the rest of the decade. He won the Sandover Medal in 1924, was also runner-up a further two times and won a West Perth 'Fairest and Best' award in 1927. Gosnell captained his club in 1928 and represented Western Australia in 15 interstate matches. The Sandover winner ended back at Kalgoorlie in 1930 was a Dillon Medalist before retiring. He was later named on the interchange bench West Perth's official 'Team of the Century' and in 2007 was inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame. Joseph Gosnell
Joseph Arthur Gosnell Sr. (June 21, 1936 – August 18, 2020) was a Canadian politician who led the Nisga'a people of northern British Columbia. The son of Eli and Mary Gosnell, he was born at Arrandale Cannery, and grew up in the village of New Aiyansh. He received his formal education at St. Michael's Residential School in Port Alberni, British Columbia. As a young man, he worked as a fisherman. He later served as band councillor and became active in the Native Brotherhood of British Columbia, of which he eventually became chairman. He was also a member of the Pacific Salmon Commission. He served for many years on the Nisga'a Tribal Council, of which he was elected President in 1992. In these various positions he was instrumental in bringing modern medical care, education, and resource management to the Nass River Valley. Kermit Barron Gosnell (born February 9, 1941) is an American serial killer and former abortion doctor. He provided illegal late-term abortions at his clinic in West Philadelphia. Gosnell was convicted of the murders of three infants who were born alive after using drugs to induce labor, the manslaughter of one woman during an abortion procedure, and of several other abortion- and drug-related crimes. Staff at Gosnell's clinic testified that there were hundreds of infants born alive during abortion procedures, and subsequently killed by Gosnell. Gosnell is a city in northern Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,910 at the 2020 census, down from 3,548 at the 2010 census. History Pre-European Exploration From 1350CE to 1700CE, the area was inhabited by a Late Mississippian Culture. Eaker Site, due east of modern Gosnell, contained a palisade, defensive trench, and a temple mound. While not confirmed, it is possible that the area was visited by members of Desoto's Expedition in 1540. 19th Century Following the Treaty of Fort Clark in 1808, a number of Creek, Shawnee, and Delaware families moved to the north end of Mississippi County, settling in and around future Gosnell and the Big Lake area. Most notable of these was Chickasawba, a Shawnee man who lived at Big Lake and sold honey to riverboat passengers at Barfield Landing in the early 1800s.
