The administrative districts () of Serbia are the country's first-level administrative divisions of Serbia, administrative division. The term ''okrug'' (pl. ''okruzi'') means "circuit" and corresponds (in literal meaning) to in the German language. It can be translated as "county", though it is generally rendered by the government as "district". Varvarin
Varvarin ( sr-cyr, Варварин, ) is a town and municipality located in the Rasina District of central Serbia. Population of the town is 1,805, and population of the municipality is 14,217 (2022 census). History The town is notable as the site of an 1810 battle during the Russo-Turkish War (1806–1812), Russo-Turkish War (1806-1812) between the Ottoman Empire and a combined Russian and Serbian army. A statue to the Russian commander Joseph Cornelius O'Rourke and his men was erected in 1910 on the centenary of their victory in the battle, which freed the city from Turkish domination. Temnić Inscription
The Temnić inscription () is one of the oldest records of medieval Serbian redaction of the Old Church Slavonic Cyrillic script from the territory of modern Serbia, dated to the late 10th, or early 11th century. It contains the form of accusative singular noun God (бога instead of богь), characteristic of Old Church Slavonic#Serbian recension, Serbian recension of the Old Church Slavonic language. The limestone plate was discovered in the vicinity of a school in the village of Gornji Katun, near Varvarin, in the region of Temnić in Morava Valley, Pomoravlje. It was acquired by the National Museum of Serbia in 1909. The tablet represents a scientific conundrum as no other remains of an edifice were found and paleography, paleographic and linguistic analysis of the text reveals little information.
