Gordon S. Holder
Gordon S. Holder was a vice admiral in the United States Navy. He was a senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton. Prior to his retirement from the navy, Holder served as commander of the Military Sealift Command. He also served as commander of the Naval Doctrine Command. Holder started his navy career by graduating from Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI in October 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 thru 2004. He was in charge of strategic logistics and warfighting efforts for Booz Allen Hamilton. Military Sealift Command
Military Sealift Command (MSC) is an organization that controls the replenishment and military transport ships of the United States Navy. Military Sealift Command has the responsibility for providing sealift and ocean transportation for all US military services as well as for other government agencies. It first came into existence on 9 July 1949 when the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) became solely responsible for the Department of Defense's ocean transport needs. The MSTS was renamed the Military Sealift Command in 1970. Military Sealift Command ships are made up of a core fleet of ships owned by the United States Navy and others under long-term-charter augmented by short-term or voyage-chartered ships. An officer candidate school (OCS) is a military school which trains civilians and enlisted personnel in order for them to gain a commission as officers in the armed forces of a country. How OCS is run differs between countries and services. Typically, officer candidates have already attained post-secondary education, and sometimes a bachelor's degree, and undergo a short duration of training (not more than a year) which focuses primarily on military skills and leadership.
