Gordon Goudie
Gordon Goudie (born 12 August 1987) is a Scottish cricketer. He currently plays for Scottish League side Mazars Grange CC as well as for the Scotland national cricket team. Goudie made his One Day International (ODI) debut in July 2008, and in February 2010 played his first Twenty20 International. In December 2008, Goudie became one of the first three players to be awarded a contract with Cricket Scotland as the board looked to increase professionalism. Career After playing for the MCC Young Cricketers in 2005, Goudie signed a contract with Middlesex County Cricket Club, Middlesex that year, but was released in 2006. Later in 2005, Goudie was called up to play for the Scottish Saltires; the Saltires were playing in the Pro40#National League, National League and were stuck at the bottom of the second division. The Scotland national men's cricket team represents the country of Scotland. They play most of their home matches at The Grange Club, The Grange, Edinburgh, as well as at other venues around Scotland. The 2006 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was played in Sri Lanka from 2 to 15 February 2006. It was the sixth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field, at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails (small sticks) balanced on three stumps. The 2009 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place in April 2009 in South Africa. It was the final part of the Cricket World Cup qualification process for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. The tournament was the renamed version of the ICC Trophy, and was the final event of the 2007–09 ICC World Cricket League. Ryan Watson (cricketer)
Ryan Robert Watson (born 12 November 1976) is a Zimbabwean-born Scottish cricketer who played limited over internationals and captained Scotland. He currently plays club cricket with Forfarshire CC. Watson is a hard hitting right-handed batsman and is able to bowl both medium-fast and off-break deliveries. He hit the headlines in 2003 when he hit a century off just 43 balls in a game against Somerset at The Grange, Edinburgh. In 2008, he became one of the first three players to be awarded a contract with Cricket Scotland. Early days Watson was previously on the coaching staff of Potchefstroom Boys High in South Africa. He decided at the age of 23 to leave South Africa permanently in an attempt to qualify to play for Scotland under residency rules. Johan Dewald Nel (born 6 June 1980) is a former South African-born Scottish professional cricketer. He is a primarily a right-arm fast-medium bowler, who also bats right-handed. Nel played 110 times for the Scottish cricket team, his début coming in a Totesport League match against Durham on 6 June 2004 taking 2–16 off 7 overs. He played in 19 One Day Internationals for Scotland, his first match at that level coming against Pakistan on 27 June 2006. One Day International
One Day International (ODI) is a format of cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of fifty overs, with the game lasting up to 7 hours. The World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one-day game is a late-twentieth-century development. The first ODI was played on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. When the first three days of the third Test were washed out officials decided to abandon the match and, instead, play a one-off one day game consisting of 40 eight-ball overs per side. The NatWest Pro40 League was a one-day cricket league for first-class cricket counties in England and Wales. It was inaugurated in 1999, but was essentially the old Sunday League retitled to reflect large numbers of matches being played on days other than Sunday. Sunday League The Sunday League was launched in 1969, as the second one-day competition in England and Wales alongside the Gillette Cup (launched in 1963). Sponsored by John Player & Sons, the league was called John Player's County League (1969), the John Player League (1970–83), then the John Player Special League (1984–86).
