Gordon Gilbert
Gordon MacKenzie Gilbert (born 10 December 1982) is a Scottish-South African football player who played as a left back/central defender in the South African Premier Soccer League. Gilbert began his career with St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League in 2002 however he soon accepted an offer and left for East Fife in the Scottish Football League. At East Fife, he was a first-team regular and helped East Fife earn promotion to the Second Division in the 2002/03 season. Gilbert's performances at East Fife caught the eye of Tuks FC in the country of his birth, where he moved in 2005. Gilbert spent three years playing in the South African First Division with Tuks FC and Mpumalanga Black Aces. During this time, Gilbert was a part of the Black Aces starting team which reached the Nedbank Cup Final in 2008. Witbank
Witbank (), officially Emalahleni, is a city situated on the Highveld of Mpumalanga, South Africa, within the Emalahleni Local Municipality. The name Witbank is Afrikaans for "white ridge", and is named after a white sandstone outcrop where wagon transport drivers rested. The city is known for its coal-mining in the surrounding region. Witbank was renamed to Emalahleni meaning the ''place of coal'' in 2006 by the government of Mpumalanga, matching the municipality. Witbank was founded in 1890 and early attempts to exploit the coal deposits failed until the railway from Pretoria reached the area in 1894. It was proclaimed a town in 1903 and became a municipality in 1914. Moroka Swallows Football Club (often known as simply Swallows or The Birds) is a South African professional football club based in Soweto in the city of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province. The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's premier club soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club). The National First Division (NFD), officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African club football after the South African Premier Division. Both the NFD and South African Premier Division are organised by the Premier Soccer League.
