Gor (film)
''Gor'' is a 1987 science fiction fantasy film. It was loosely based on the 1966 novel ''Tarnsman of Gor'', the first in the ''Gor'' series of sword and planet novels. The series was written by philosophy professor and author John Frederick Lange Jr. under his pen name John Norman. There was a sequel to the film, ''Outlaw of Gor'' (1989). Plot After being snubbed before a weekend-getaway by his teaching assistant, socially awkward professor of physics Tarl Cabot accidentally unlocks the magical properties of a ring which transports him to the planet Gor. After his arrival, Cabot encounters a village being attacked by the army of the tyrannical priest-king Sarm. Sarm's forces are invading neighboring settlements in an effort to retrieve the Home Stone, a mystical object that creates pathways between Gor and distant Earth. Cabot too is abruptly attacked by Sarm's warriors. After inadvertently killing Sarm's own son during the encounter, he is left for dead in the desert. He awakens ... Gas Oil Ratio
When oil is produced to surface temperature and pressure it is usual for some natural gas to come out of solution. The gas/oil ratio (GOR) is the ratio of the volume of gas ("scf") that comes out of solution to the volume of oil — at standard conditions. In reservoir simulation gas/oil ratio is usually abbreviated R_s. A point to check is whether the volume of oil is measured before or after the gas comes out of solution, since the remaining oil volume will decrease when the gas comes out. In fact, gas dissolution and oil volume shrinkage will happen at many stages during the path of the hydrocarbon stream from reservoir through the wellbore and processing plant to export. For light oils and rich gas condensate Natural-gas condensate, also called natural gas liquids, is a low-density mixture of hydrocarbon liquids that are present as gaseous components in the raw natural gas produced from many natural gas fields. Some gas species within the raw natur ...s the ultimate ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

GOR Method
The GOR method (short for Garnier–Osguthorpe–Robson) is an information theory-based method for the prediction of secondary structures in proteins. It was developed in the late 1970s shortly after the simpler Chou–Fasman method. Like Chou–Fasman, the GOR method is based on probability parameters derived from empirical studies of known protein tertiary structures solved by X-ray crystallography. However, unlike Chou–Fasman, the GOR method takes into account not only the propensities of individual amino acids to form particular secondary structures, but also the conditional probability of the amino acid to form a secondary structure given that its immediate neighbors have already formed that structure. The method is therefore essentially Bayesian in its analysis. Method The GOR method analyzes sequences to predict alpha helix, beta sheet, turn, or random coil In polymer chemistry, a random coil is a conformation of polymers where the monomer subunits are oriented randomly ... It is sometimes used as an ..., and so by that standard are a single language. Doba is the name of the town which is the center of the Mango people, and is used by linguists as a cover term for the three dialects. The number of speakers is uncertain, as the latest figure for the Bedjond, 36,000, dates from 1969. Figures for the Gor (87,000) and Mango (52,000) date from 2006. Bedjond is also spelled ''Bediondo'' and ''Bejondo,'' and is also known as ''Bediondo Mbai, Mbay Bejondo,'' and ''Nangnda''. Dialects are ... It is down the line from and is situated between to the east and to the west. It is served by local services operated by Great Western Railway (GWR). The station has two side platforms (platform 1 on the down main line and platform 4 on the up relief line) and a central island platform with two faces (platform 2 on the up main line and platform 3 on the down relief line). Platforms 1 and 2 are only used when engineering works cause stopping trains to use the fast tracks, and the platform edges are closed off by fences incorporating normally closed (but not locked) gates. Drâa-El-Gamra
Drâa-El-Gamra is an archaeological site in Tunisia, the site of the ancient city of Gor. It remains a Latin Catholic titular see. History In Antiquity the location was known as Gor. It was originally a Punic city. The Roman era ''civitas'', mentioned by Saint Augustine, was located beside the aqueduct to Carthage. Drâa-El-Gamra was the seat of an ancient episcopal see of the Roman province of Africa Proconsularis. Only two bishops are historically known. Victor took part in the council held at Carthage in 256 by Saint Cyprian to discuss the question of the ''lapsi''. Restitutus intervened at the Council of Carthage (411). Like most of the many suffragans of Carthage, it faded. Titular see Gor was nominally restored as a Latin titular bishopric in 1933. It has had the following incumbents, all of the fitting episcopal (lowest) rank: * Emanuele Hanisch, Mill Hill Missionaries (M.H.M.) (13 April 1937 – 28 February 1940), as first Apostolic Vicar of Umtata (So ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
