John Goossens
John Goossens (born 25 July 1988) is a Dutch former professional footballer who mainly played as a defensive midfielder, although he was capable of playing in several positions in midfield, and even as a left winger. Since his retirement from football in 2022, he has worked as a financial counsellor for professional footballers. He began his career with NEC in the Eredivisie in 2009, after arriving from the famed Ajax academy, before moving to Feyenoord in 2012, where he played for two seasons. After leaving the club in 2014, he spent four years abroad with Indian club Pune City, Romanian club Voluntari and Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire. He returned to the Netherlands in 2018, ending his career with ADO Den Haag. At international level, Goossens has also represented the Netherlands at U17 and U21 levels, scoring two goals at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship with the former and finishing in third place at the tournament. Sir Eugene Aynsley Goossens (; 26 May 189313 June 1962) was an English conductor and composer. Biography He was born in Camden Town, London, the son of the Belgian conductor and violinist Eugène Goossens (''fils'', 1867–1958) and Annie Cook, a Carl Rosa Opera Company singer. He was the grandson of the conductor Eugène Goossens (''père'', 1845–1906; his father and grandfather spelled Eugène with a grave accent; he himself did not). He studied music at the age of ten in Bruges, three years later at Liverpool College of Music, and in 1907 in London on a scholarship at the Royal College of Music under composer Charles Villiers Stanford and the violinist Achille Rivarde among others. Marc Goossens, nicknamed The Goose (born 30 November 1969), is a Belgian professional racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for SpeedHouse in the EuroNASCAR PRO class. Racing career Goossens drove full-time in Formula 3000 from 1994 to 1996 and part-time from 1999 to 2001. In between he drove in endurance races and is a veteran of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Eugène Goossens (25 February 1845 – 30 December 1906) was a Belgian conductor. Biography He was born in Bruges and studied music as a child at the Church of Our Lady, Bruges, then at the Bruges Conservatoire. At the age of fourteen, he was admitted to the conservatoire in Brussels, where he studied composition. He conducted opera companies throughout Europe, moving to England in 1873. There he conducted for the company of Selina Dolaro under the management of Richard D'Oyly Carte in 1876. Pierre-Lambert Goossens (18 July 1827 – 25 January 1906) was a Belgian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Mechelen from 1884 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1889. Biography Pierre-Lambert Goossens was born in Perk, near Vilvoorde, and ordained to the priesthood on 21 December 1850. He then taught pedagogy at the seminary in Mechelen until 1858, also being named vice-pastor of its cathedral and private secretary to the Archbishop in 1856. After becoming an honorary canon in 1860, Goossens was made vicar general in 1878, and later a Domestic Prelate of His Holiness on 20 August 1880.
