Goodie Reeve
Goodie Reeve (1897 – 4 December 1978) was a British-born actor, singer, songwriter, radio host, critic and columnist who found fame in Australia, becoming known as the "First Lady of Sydney Radio". Early life Reeve was born Lillian Mary Hazlewood in Warwick Garden, London, the second child of famed comedic actress Ada Reeve and actor Bert Gilbert (Joseph Gilbert Hazlewood); her sister Bessie Hazlewood was also an actress before becoming a chauffeur in Sydney. Reeve's maternal grandparents Charles Reeve and Harriet Saunders were also actors, and Charles was an active member of the original vigilance committee established to capture Jack the Ripper. Reeve's paternal grandfather Henry Hazlewood was an actor and theatre manager and her great-grandfather was the playwright Colin Henry Hazlewood. Reg McGillicuddy
Reginald Patrick MacGillicuddy (24 July 1891 – 26 January 1922) was an Australian rules footballer who played with University in the Victorian Football League in 1911. Reg MacGillicuddy was the son of Irish-catholic parents, Dr Daniel Florance MacGillicuddy and Mary Anne Meaney, who lived in Richmond, in Melbourne's inner east. He attended the prestigious Xavier College, excelling at rowing, cricket and football. McGillicuddy enrolled at the University of Melbourne in 1911, studying medicine, and while in his first year he made his VFL debut with the University team in Round 13, 15 July 1911, against Carlton Football Club at Carlton's home ground Princes Park. University lost by 44 points and McGillicuddy was omitted from the University side until Round 16, when he returned to play against Collingwood at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which Collingwood won 14.14 (98) to 0.9 (9). Tivoli Circuit
The Tivoli Circuit was a successful and popular Australian vaudeville entertainment circuit featuring revue, opera, ballet, dance, singing, musical comedy, old time black and white minstrel and even Shakespeare which flourished from 1893 to the 1950s, and featured local and international performers from the United States and the United Kingdom. The circuit suffered a catastrophic decline in popularity after the introduction of television in Australia in 1956, although embracing the new medium and feature live half hour broadcasts from Sydney. The last Tivoli show was staged in 1966 and the company briefly went into film exhibition in Melbourne. The Sydney building was leased out to various establishments until the building was demolished in 1969. The only original Tivoli theatre still standing is Her Majesty's Theatre, Adelaide. ''This Is Your Life'' is a British biographical television series, based on the 1952 American series. In the show, the host surprises a special guest, before taking them through their life in a studio, with the assistance of the 'big red book'. Both celebrities and non-celebrities were featured on the show. The show was originally broadcast live, and over its run it alternated between being broadcast on the BBC and on ITV. It was hosted by Eamonn Andrews from 1955 until 1964, and then from 1969 until his death in 1987. Michael Aspel then took up the role of host until the show ended in 2003. It briefly returned in 2007 as a one-off special presented by Trevor McDonald. Herbert R. Gilbert (18 September 1888 – 5 January 1972) was an Australian rugby league and rugby union player – a List of dual-code rugby internationals, dual-code international. He represented the Australia national rugby union team, Wallabies in three Tests in 1910 and the Australia national rugby league team, Kangaroos in seven Tests from 1911 to 1920, his last two as captain. Amy Johnson
Amy Johnson (born 1 July 1903 – disappeared 5 January 1941) was a pioneering English pilot who was the first woman to fly solo from London to Australia. Flying solo or with her husband, Jim Mollison, she set many long-distance records during the 1930s. In 1933, Katharine Hepburn's character in the film '' Christopher Strong'' was inspired by Johnson. She flew in the Second World War as a part of the Air Transport Auxiliary. Her aircraft crashed into the Thames Estuary: she died after bailing out.
