Goodall Gondwe
Goodall Edward Gondwe (1 December 1936 – 8 August 2023) was a Malawian economist who served in cabinet of Malawi, his country's cabinet as Minister of Finance (Malawi), Minister of Finance on two occasions: from 2004 to 2009, and from 2014 to 2019. He also served as Minister of Local Government from 2009 to 2010 and Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Affairs from 2011 to 2012. Gondwe was director of the Africa Division of the International Monetary Fund before returning to Malawi to work as a politician. In the period leading up to his election as Member of Parliament, he served as the Chief Economic Advisor to President Bakili Muluzi. Early life and education Gondwe was born on 1 December 1936, and was from Kayiwonanga village, Mzimba District, Mzimba, in the Northern Region of Malawi. Hastings Banda
Hastings Kamuzu Banda ( – 25 November 1997) was a Malawian politician and statesman who served as the leader of Malawi from 1964 to 1994. He served as Prime Minister of Malawi, Prime Minister from independence in 1964 to 1966, when Malawi was a Dominion/Commonwealth realm. In 1966, the country became a republic and he became the first President of Malawi, president as a result, ruling until his defeat in 1994. After receiving much of his education in ethnography, linguistics, history, and medicine overseas, Banda returned to Nyasaland to speak against colonialism and advocate independence from the United Kingdom. Chimunthu Banda
Henry Chimunthu Banda is a Malawian politician who was the Speaker of the National Assembly of Malawi from May 2009 to May 2014. He was elected in 2009 as the Chair of the 19 member Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Africa region. He also served for a time as Minister of Energy and Minister of Mining, Youth Sports and Culture. Early life and education Banda is from Chipembere village in Nkhotakota District, Central Malawi. He received a Diploma in Education obtained from the University of Malawi in 1984. Subsequently, he earned a Diploma in Education Management which he acquired from Brandon University.
